Fat Fish Sushi — Restaurant in Pleasanton

I would have loved to give this place a positive review. But twice now it was a joke and a waste of time for me. The first time i wont lie I had high expectations since I heard and was told by 2 random people I met inside Wal-Mart if all places that they were the best they ever had. Come to find out it was two employees there. Anyway first visit was for myself. I waited 45 minutes to just be seated. Mind you there was only people at 2 tables. The employees decided there conversation wa as more important than anything else at that time. Once seated..... I will just spare all that. I ended up leaving with the 3 other people i was with and we just went somewhere else after almost a 2 hour wait for no apparent reason. The second time I was there it was for picking up a doordash order. Instead of belittling and bad mouthing this restaurant I will just say I no longer accept any order pickups from this place. I have denied 2 so far and I don't see rhat changing anytime soon. Shame because I really wanted this place to be excellent, hell just average would have sufficed. Especially since I live so close by. So 1 star review but couldn't tell you how the food was as I yet to have been able to actually eat there. Their food is of good quality and the environment is dim and intimate. Pretty lively place for dinner. The meals are cheap but the portions are big! The only complaints I have are that parking is terrible so if you come with a group- take 1 car. Also, if you order by phone, ask if they have all of the ingredients in your order because I have ordered a California roll but they didn't mention that they were out of avocado (which is like half of what's in the roll). Other than than that it's a great place for lunch and dinner! (Closed on Mondays though!). UPDATE: The service is horrid. I asked the chef today for an update on my order (as I was on my lunch break and it had already been 20 minutes for only a California roll). He turned to the coworker next to him and shrugged his shoulders and continued to do what he was doing, saying nothing to me. The lady at the register said she would tell me when my order was ready but failed to do so until I stood up and walked over- my order had been sitting there for a while already. The ramen here is unbelievably!! Flavor, spice and everything nice! Sushi is fantastic and I couldn’t applaud the chef’s at this place enough!! One of the best spots for Ramen and Sushi. Decently priced too!

Ambience is a bit… tired if I’m being honest, and I’ve had a server there who acts super irritated to be serving you. Specifically just one server there is prone to just plopping your food on the table, and if it spills or ends up all over the place. Doesn’t seem to care and rarely offers an apologize for jostling your food. And when you’re placing your order acts super annoyed to even you asking for add-ons and don’t bother asking questions whilst placing the order! Absolutely will make you feel terrible for even stepping foot in the place.

If you can get past the one server who hates being employed there or catch a day when they aren’t there! It’s well worth the minor buzz kill.

BUT if you have severe social anxiety(like me) it’s enough to make you not want to step foot in there ever again if it wasn’t for how good the food is! I’ve been back so many times just because I can’t get over how good...
