As someone who has been to the location at Convoy San Diego, this location is a huge disappointment. We were a party of 4, checked in at 9pm, and was seated at 9:30pm. First thing I noticed, is that the table and seats were not wiped down properly, there was residue from the last customers. Next, the server that brought the drinks, soy sauce pan, and wasabi basically threw or dropped the items on the table. Next, there was another server that explained how things worked, also told us that the tablet would stop taking orders at 9:45. As there was basically no food on the belt, we had to use the tablet. And not only that, it also limited the orders we could place. At around 9:45 the tablet stopped working, we wanted to order more food but nobody came to check on us for a while so we pressed for the call button. We noticed that the servers went to the other tables to see how other customers were doing, but seemed to just disregard us. It took them about 10 minutes when we called out to one of them passing by before they noticed us, and we asked if we could order more food, that same server who told us the tablet would stop taking orders at 9:45pm, said the kitchen closes at 9:45pm, and the only option by that time was to get the bill, so not only was she going against what she had told us initially. She wasn't being apologetic at all, she wasn't even making an effort to somehow make it a better experience for us. It just makes no sense to still be taking customers at that point, if we only have 10-15 minutes to eat. Where is the courtesy reminder? How do we even get to enjoy this? Apart from the horrible customer service (the host also had very dramatic long leopard sort of print of nails which is the first time I've ever seen in a food service environment), the quality of the food just can't compare to the SD location. The nigiri rice broke off. The overall experience was just horrible, we would never come to this...

Kura is a combo sushi conveyor with bullet delivery where most of their sushi are on a carousal but kiosk order come via the bullet delivery. Their kitchen area and dining area are separated by a glass partition with a lot of sushi chef bustling and putting food on the conveyor.
Restaurant is a good medium size, but you can easily mistaken them for a Koi's Palace Dim Sum with their signature large crowd waiting. Typical wait times run in excess of 75 minutes but you can check in online with their app before you leave your house, or go across the street and do some outlet shopping.
All the plates on the conveyor belt are a reasonable $2.75 a plate and you will be surprise at the quality of meat and fish they use. Most of their dishes are nigiri but a few are single piece. Their Amaebi, Tobiko and scallop, salmon skin and fresh crab meat are nigiri, and their uni fly solo (or $2.75 for a piece of Uni suhsi - try beating that). Fresh crab legs, sear beef all comes nigiri style. The quality is there.. not the cheap fish you'd expect from a sushi platter. Everything is fresh and of good quality. If anything their rice was a bit on the vinegar heavy side and felt like it was from a sushi rice making machine. It wasn't tight as what you would expect from a hand made sushi. You can order their Udon; it's more of an appetizer portion side but perfect for a kids meal. There's a return tray you slide them in and for every 15 plate, there's an overhead prize that drops down. They do have some dessert options including watermelon, NY cheese cake and a Japanese tart. The tart and cheese cake appear to be store bought but nonetheless the tart was good. I would skip the mochi.
I think this place can easily be doubled in size and would still fill up with an...
ย ย ย Read moreI have been to kura so many times in different location in Nor Cal & So cal. I have been to kura since they only have 1 - 2 restaurants in Orange County. I love kura but the restaurant at this location in Pleasanton, CA is like a ticking time bomb. One day people might get sick or something due to how the food quality and cleanliness in that restaurant is getting worse and worse. The first time I was there everything was perfect. The last time I was there, 2 weeks ago, everything was just terrible. The restroom was dirty and didn't get clean up promptly. The food & drinks especially was terrible. I ordered 3 plates of uni (sea urchin) and all 3 of them came in mushy, reddish color and taste kind of weird. I got the uni very little ammount, just barely covered the top of the sushi rice. I am guessing I got the left over that has been sitting in the fridge for a long time. The scallop sushi was kind of slimy and watery a little with fishy smell. Fresh scallop shouldn't be fishy at all. A lot of the plastic cover where the plate sits on the conveyor belt was hard to open. Usually you just lift up the plates and the cover will open smoothly, but that day we had to crank it open everytime. Looks like they didn't clean it properly and it became sticky. We ordered a green tea drink and that day was the 2nd time we have noticed the plastic green cup smells weird. Some of the plastic water cups also smells. I think they didn't wash it with hot enough water and fungus started to grow and made the cups smells like that. Corporate really need to make unannounce inspection to this location before something big happend. Not worth the trouble caused by...
