Delicious authentic hot pot meat with halal wagyu options.
As I am writing this review, they have three halal meat options outside of the seafood option. There is halal Wagyu toro, halal Wagyu chuck, and lamb. We’ve tried all three and depending on the cut, which has varied between visits our favorite changes between the wagyus. The lamb did not taste gamey and tasted good at Mumu and I usually don’t like lamb because of the strong taste.
For those needing halal, they only offer halal beef and lamb and the server can confirm it. Their broths need to be made with vegan/ vegetarian broth! The Thai Tom yum, Szechuan, and soup options are nice but really spicy.
The menu is online and they provide you WiFi. You order everything through the site and they bring it to your table. So to order vegan broth you have to tell a server as they don’t provide an option on some of their options like the meat lover option.
Celiacs beware! They do not have a gluten free soup option and every time we have had to go we have to get hot water. But you can still enjoy the meat and seafood if you bring your own gluten free soup base and some condiments. So we brought our own gluten free soy sauce and chili paste and made our own broth which tastes pretty good with the veggies and sides. Also, when you order make sure to tell them you have celiac and to make sure none of the noodles that have wheat come on top of the veggies. We ordered a side of udon for the non GF people and they stuck it on top of the veggies.
The meat lover option is perfect for two or an extremely hungry single person.
We have been here three times over the past month and we finally know what to do for dietary restrictions.
They get busy during peak times, and require you to put your name on...

Unbelievably bad. Food was overpriced and mediocre compared to literally any other hotpot nearby. To make matters worse, they mixed my meat orders with my friend's vegetable orders on accident somehow...these are not supposed to be combined to begin with!! Hope you like bloody vegetables. Ordered "wagyu" which likely wasn't even wagyu as it had basically no marbling at all, and one other plate of their non-wagyu "high end" beef. Friends ordered some beef and veggies. Tasted like very mediocre beef. Portion sizes were tiny. Didn't even finish my food despite it because the quality was atrocious.
Service was beyond unacceptable. We made our orders through their app, which barely worked, and the server didn't even turn on my stove for the pot.... didn't get us water either until we complained after 30-40 minutes at which point we had already needed it as we had started eating. Served plates to the wrong people, served the broths to the wrong people.
Despite our terrible experience they gave us a discount, which still had our bill totalling over $120. The same orders of food at any decent hotpot place would have been around $100 pre-discount, and much higher quality.
Atmosphere was bleak, just like my outlook towards the place after we finished dining.

Read moreIt was our first visit to Mumu Hotpot, and we arrived just before closing, managing to place our order just in time. Since it was our first experience, we scrambled to understand the setup, and deciding on a soup base was a bit challenging. Ultimately, we chose the Tom Yum soup base and went with the Single Meat option, selecting chicken to share since we weren't too hungry. We also added extra ramen noodles, which turned out to be two portions - perhaps a bit too much, as adding both would have dried up the soup. The Tom Yum soup was delicious, and the chicken was thinly sliced, making us feel confident in our choices after much deliberation.
We tried the Yuzu Shio, which was overly salty, and we were glad we sampled it first. The Miso was too mild for our taste, and the Tomato was quite simple. We were hesitant about the Sichuan Sauce, fearing it might be too spicy, so we felt the Tom Yum was a good middle ground. We enjoyed all the toppings, especially the mushrooms, which were exceptional—don’t miss out on those!
The only downside was that we felt rushed to finish our meal since it was 9:40, and they were already cleaning up and preparing to close. We understand the need to close on time, but they should consider not accepting walk-ins after 8:30 or 8:45, as hot pot dining takes time to cook and enjoy. Despite that, we had a great time, and the overall experience...
