I came to The Works on Chubbuck after practice around 8:30 PM with my two boys because they were hungry. It was my first time there, and I was not familiar with the menu. We were treated like an annoyance the second we walked in; there was no greeting—just straight to the point from the black-haired server. “What do you want?” I looked at the menu, and there is a lot going on; I couldn’t make out what I needed but knew they’d have what I was looking for. I said my boys would both like a turkey sandwich. The server replied, “What size?” I asked, “What sizes do you have?” and she replied snootily, “The sizes are on the menu.” It was hard to see because the screens are angled, but I was able to make out the sizes and said, “8 inches on white.”
Then I asked, “What comes with a meal?” She replied, annoyed, “You mean combos?” I said yes, a combo, and she said drinks and fries. I asked my boys what fries they wanted, and they said tater tots and cottage fries because there was a flyer on the plastic cover. She then replied, “If you call them by their names, it would help us out.” I had a confused look on my face, and the other server, who I could tell was kind, said, “Tots and cots.” I said okay, “Tots and cots, is that what they're called?” The mean server replied, “You’d know if you read the board.”
I walked over to the board and still couldn’t find it. I said, “I still don’t see them, but ‘tots and cots’ it is.” She then said, “It’s there,” and I replied, “Well, this board is hard to read and angled.” Then she said, “Well, walk in front of it.” This is when I had enough. I told her if my boys weren’t getting sandwiches, I would have walked out because of how disrespectful she was, and she dares to reply, “Then leave, we are closing soon.” She grabbed both sandwiches and smashed them slightly. I asked how I could get a hold of the owner, and she says, “I don’t have to tell you,” and when I asked for her name to leave a review, she snapped, “Don’t have to tell you.” She was always recording and trying her hardest to make herself look good in my frustrated state.
I’ll never go there again!!! She made me sick to my stomach, but the Pocatello location was kind and built my order, so I drove over to that location, paid for my food, and left my info. But the owner never reached out the following day...
Read moreWe came in here for our first time yesterday. The place is clean and tidy. However for first timers, we weren't sure what everything was and how the process worked. Theres was a lady with dark hair running the counter and Greeted me with, " Are you next? What do you want?" In a gruff tone. The grill is kinda loud and makes it hard to hear. When she what im assuming was asking bread types, she blurted them out so quickly we couldn't hear them and she stood there staring at us until we said "what did you say" and she got uppity that she had to repeat herself. We told her the sandwiches we wanted and and she just shoved us down the line in a rude way. There was one person behind us and 1 in front of us. It wasn't busy at this point by any means. She then proceeded making us repeat everything from having grilled onions and mushrooms to sauces acting like we couldn't hear her. The lady was so gruff/rushing with my husband and i that we didn't even have a chance to look at sauces or make a decision on what we wanted for vetoes as she was rushing us. I had to ask if I could order sides and anything else I needed from the sweet girl that was tall with glasses as that lady was so off putting with her whole demeanor that it made us anxious to ask for anything from her or any questions on what the different sides were .The lady didn't even give us the option to dine in or take out. It was when the nice tall girl was bagging our order, I told her it was to stay. We sat down and started to eat and a gentleman who seemed to be the owner, came in and started helping what started to be a lunch rush. He was so pleasant and kind to watch work and we soon realized that we could of had our sandwiches cut in half, sauce flavors besides mayo, the types of cheese offered and meats etc.. while he was there we watched the ladys demeanor completely change . Unfortunately for us she had ruined our experience. The food was good, love the options of the side fries, just disappointed in...
Read moreI post reviews for almost all local restaurants here in Pocatello. If you like to support local businesses that do it right! look no further than THE WORKS!
The first thing I look at when I go into a local food business is how clean and how professionally laid out the store and environment is for the customer. I was impressed by Their store. It is very well maintained and the overall setting is nice and relaxed.
The food here is great for the price as well. Very wide variety of sides and appetizers to go along with your meals. I ordered potato wedges and sweet potato tater tots and they were incredible! Seriously, some of the best I’ve ever had. If you are a sweet potato fan these are an absolute must.
Comparing the subs sandwiches to other establishments, I’d have to give it a C+ I ordered the Philly cheese steak. It was good and definitely not bad but the bread they use here isn’t the greatest. My wife and I both prefer papa Kelci’s subs over THE WORKS and do feel they are far more superior at making sandwiches. The bread being the main thing, as papa kelci’s makes theirs fresh every morning. However, papa kelci’s does not have the amazing sides to go along with their meals and usually only offer a bag of potato chips. THE WORKS has a huge advantage here because they have so many amazing options that are really really good!
Overall the experience eating here was amazing and I’ll definitely return to try more food options! I highly recommend this business and always encourage people to eat local no matter what. Please support our community...
