I grew up in this area, moving away 25 years ago. We sold my parents house last year and since then I've needed a hotel when back to visit friends and family.||This was my second trip back in a hotel - and I would return here before I returned to the Residence Inn across the street.||The pricing during my stay was ridiculous for the area - the front desk explained there was a dance competition in town that had all the hotels sold out at higher prices. The hotel was mostly families with teen and pre-teen girls.||I was concerned about noise, but it generally wasn't an issue due a combination of a very loud air conditioning unit providing white noise and well behaved guests on my floor. While awake in the room I could hear people in the hallway and with the air conditioning off I could hear traffic on the nearby interstate. Neither kept me awake, but I could hear them.||The shower and sink had great water pressure and the hottest water I've encountered in a hotel. It was wonderful not having to hurry through a lukewarm shower. Bottles of shampoo, conditioner and body wash in the shower. No lotion which was a disappointment.||The room was clean - no issues there. The sofa bed was nice for relaxing and falling asleep watching TV. Basic satellite dish TV - disappointed no local regional sports network to watch the Guardians and/or Pirates. Two TVs in the King executive suite.||The evening front desk attendant was very helpful and pleasant. Had the extra pillows I wanted when I returned to the hotel the first evening.||Ah yes - the pillows. Based on my experience this hotel needs new pillows. If you like firm pillows, this is NOT the hotel for you. I like to sleep with my head elevated on pillows - even with 7 pillows this was not possible. Shame on me for not brining my own pillow from home to help, but these pillows were among the worst I've encountered in a hotel in a long time. Mattress was OK - but not the dreamy kind that has me pulling off the covers to see what I just slept in and would like to have at home.||The room had a refrigerator, TV, microwave and coffee maker at the foot of the bed. Sounds great but there was only a single electrical outlet to plug in two at once. The microwave and coffee maker had the cords wrapped around them. I had to pull the fridge out to briefly plug in the microwave to heat up my leftover pizza.||Breakfast was OK, but underwhelming. Hotels seem to want to go with the cheapest foods available these days. Same choices all 3 days - scrambled eggs, sausage patties and premade sandwiches. Oh for the days of bacon at hotel buffets. ||Again I prefer this hotel to the badly worn out Residence Inn across the street. I don't prefer this hotel enough to not give the nearby Hampton or Holiday Inn a shot at my business on my next return in a few months as I keep looking for a go-to hotel in the Boardman-Poland area. Replace the mattress and pillows in the rooms and you might have...

Read moreWe've stayed at this hotel before, but this time was pathetic. We called in advance to verify that breakfast was included and they stated that it would be a continental breakfast. When we went down for breakfast, everything was out except for a couple of pop tarts, a couple packages of oatmeal and cereal (no milk was available) and some no brand yogurt. Coffee was out, and they did not even provide decaf. I looked for someone to restock, but there was no one maintaining the breakfast area. I went to the front desk, and the attendant there told me that he has to do it. At the same time, people are coming down to check out and ask questions. The poor guy was trying to run back and forth trying to work the breakfast area and the front desk. I think that Marriot is taking advantage of Covid as an excuse to cut back. I've stayed at other hotels during Covid and they managed safety by having a person maintaining the breakfast area serving hot food and other breakfast items. Other hotels provided a bag with breakfast sandwiches and other breakfast item Additional items were available on request. I checked out the hotel next door and they had a much better breakfast including breakfast sandwiches, eggs, milk, 3 different name brand yogurts, muffins, both regular and decaf coffee, etc. I was very disappointed that the management of this hotel is taking advantage of a bad situation to provide low standards of service, lower even than other...
