Yesterday I ordered my usual drink, a Matcha Frappuccino with almond milk and strawberry purée. The cashier, Matt, informed me that they were running low on strawberry purée and that he was saving it for someone who orders a "real drink."
In my 10 years of supporting Starbucks, I've never encountered such a response. I asked him, "A Frappuccino isnât a real drink?" He then said, "OK, I can give it to you, but it wonât be that much. Iâll give you what I can," while still intending to charge me the full price. I declined, as I didn't want to pay full price for a reduced amount of purĂ©e just because he was "saving it for someone who buys a real drink."
My thoughts are, it doesn't matter who he's saving it for, as the supply will eventually run out regardless. He then checked and said he could provide the purĂ©e. I asked for assurance that he would give me a decent amount since I was paying for it.
