Pompano Beach has long been home to beloved Italian-American eateries like Big Louie’s and Zuccarelli’s, but Peter’s Pizzeria, located across from Gallupi’s on Federal Highway, has redefined the local pizza scene. Known for its meticulous attention to ingredients and preparation, Peter’s is where Italian comfort food becomes an art form. While their East Boca location already wowed diners, the new Pompano Beach location takes things even further, offering a menu that satisfies every craving.
At the core of Peter’s success is their dough—a blend of three Italian flours, including Caputo 00, cold-proofed for 48 hours in a high-humidity dough room. This process gives the dough a complex flavor and incredible texture. The pizzas are baked in vintage gas-fired Bakers Pride ovens, using a dual-zone method: a 520-degree zone to cook the pie through, followed by a 600+ degree zone to crisp it to perfection.
The result is a crust that’s perfectly blistered with just the right amount of chew. Combine this with imported San Marzano tomatoes, Grande mozzarella, and house-made sauces, and you’ve got a pizza that transcends expectations.
For those who prefer to sample a variety or just grab something quick, Peter’s offers a large selection of topped slices. These slices showcase the same dedication to quality as their whole pies, making them a perfect option for diners who don’t want to commit to an entire pizza. From a classic cheese slice to the garlicky Grandma-style pie, every slice is expertly crafted and packed with flavor.
If you’re ready for a full pie, the options are just as exciting. Peter’s offers three distinct styles:
• Brooklyn Round Pies: These can be regular or thin crust, catering to both traditionalists and those who prefer a crispier bite.
• Sicilian: A thick, focaccia-like crust that pairs beautifully with their sweeter Sicilian sauce.
• Grandma: A thinner, square crust with a homey, rustic texture, made even better with their garlicky marinara sauce.
Our top pick? The plain Brooklyn pie with marinara and garlic on a thin crust. The balance of flavors and textures was simply outstanding.
While Peter’s pizzas are the main draw, the rest of the menu deserves just as much attention. The truffle wings—roasted, fried, and tossed with fresh black truffle, truffle oil, and aged pecorino romano—are a revelation, bringing a gourmet twist to a classic.
The subs at Peter’s are another highlight, thanks to their house-baked semolina rolls. These rolls, made fresh daily, have the perfect balance of softness and structure, elevating their hero sandwiches to a new level. The “Hey Pal” sub takes chicken parm to the next tier with layers of crispy chicken cutlets, vodka sauce, creamy burrata, fresh basil, and shaved parmigiano reggiano. It’s a masterpiece that highlights Peter’s commitment to reinventing the classics.
The pasta offerings (which are not listed on the menu yet but you can ask) are equally impressive. The spicy rigatoni with Calabrian chili peppers in a creamy vodka sauce delivers a perfect mix of heat and richness, while the house-made fried ravioli is golden, crispy perfection paired with a flavorful marinara dip.
It’s bold to open a pizzeria near institutions like Big Louie’s and Zuccarelli’s, but Peter’s doesn’t just compete—it surpasses. From their impeccable dough to their innovative takes on wings, subs, and pastas, Peter’s sets a new benchmark for Italian-American cuisine.
The Pompano Beach location isn’t just another outpost—it’s the flagship. With a larger kitchen serving as the central hub for dough preparation and expanded menu offerings, it’s where Peter’s team shines brightest. Meanwhile, their East Boca location will shift focus to grab-and-go slices, allowing the Pompano location to offer a complete...
Read moreAfter hearing some buzz about Peter’s Pizza, I went to the Boca location a couple of months ago to give it a try. Located at the beach, on E. Palmetto Park Rd, it’s a small store that caters to locals and the beach crowd. Like a NY pizza place, you can order by the slice. I had a slice of Pepperoni... super impressive. I thought, if a slice warmed up could be this good, I needed to get back here for a pie made to order. The super friendly young lady behind the counter told me I should also try their main location in Pompano Beach… she was so right!
I stopped here today. It didn't take long to realize there was something very special going on. Peter’s is making perhaps the best pizza in all of Florida… and certainly one of the top pizzas in the country! This location is fantastic. Located in a small strip mall, parking is easy. The store is modern, much larger with more seating than Boca. The staff is great… there are 2 guys behind the counter, experienced, expert pizza makers … super friendly and accommodating. As I’m enjoying my slices… a slice of Pepperoni and a Grandma’s slice, I notice a large room in the back enclosed in glass with 2 more guys… all these 2 are doing is making dough. This “dough kitchen” area is enclosed as it’s temperature and humidity controlled to keep the dough exactly the way they want it.
I’m already very impressed with everything… then I was lucky enough to meet the owner, Peter… and he took it to another level. You can’t speak with Peter and not immediately notice his passion for pizza. You also realize that great pizza doesn’t happen by accident.
Peter has loved pizza since he was a kid growing up in NY, and spent time working in some of New York’s legendary places. He came to Florida and set out to make the best pizza he could possibly make. He sources the best ingredients from the top purveyors… the tomato sauce, made to his specifications, is shipped weekly from Italy!! The water he uses to make the dough goes through a sophisticated water filtration system he developed to produce water to match the pH he prefers in New York! Beginning to understand the attention to detail that goes into what’s going on here? He’s only 30 years old and continues to push the envelope, so it will be very exciting to what he has in store for us in the years to come.
Peter eats, sleeps and breathes pizza… and as pizza lovers we get to enjoy the benefits of all of his knowledge and tireless efforts… and that of his amazing staff.
2nd Visit - June 2025 Wanted to get back here to dine in and order a full pizza. Started with a Walnut Salad w/Arugula, Candied Walnuts, Cranberries, Goat Cheese and Balsamic. Really fantastic! The quality of each ingredient was off the charts, and super generous amounts... balsamic was perfect. A great starter that is perfect for 2 or 3 sharing. Our Pepperoni and Onion pizza was great, as expected. Do I still love everything about this place? Yes!
Fun to eat at the restaurant and watch Peter engage with his customers. Of course there are a lot of regulars, also a ton of takeout orders... the place is in constant motion. No matter how busy, Peter takes the time to speak with his customers and make sure they have everything they need.
VERY HIGHLY RECOMMENDED - A...
