Panadería San Agustín — Restaurant in Ponce

We went to visit this place because they portrayed it in the local news as a "great place" to find bread and pastries. Couldn't be more wrong. The bread is just average to say the least. Kind of hard and too chewy. Even though the pastries were just ok, they were super cold and the lady didn't even offer to heat them up a little bit (like many bakeries offer). This place is stuck in time, and not "vintage stuck in time", is like "disorganized stuck in time". And to top it all off, one of the ladies had a really bad attitude. We love cappuccinos and we always ask in places if they offer it. She looked at us like we cursed at her for asking. We just ordered regular coffees and she was so impatient asking us what size we wanted. Mind you, I was with my elderly family and you would expect a little patience and respect, especially when there was nobody else in the place when we got there. To be honest, they only seemed to be nice to the regulars that visit the place. Hope you have a better experience than we did. Where was the "greatness" of this place that they portrayed in the news? We were really disappointed with this place. Generally speaking, whenever we are on the island our favorite go to spots for breakfast are panaderías/bakeries. You can always get a good quick cheap breakfast. Unfortunately this place was not. The bakery was basically empty, we ordered and the food took very long to come out. I ordered a pastrami sandwich with a coffee and a sugar donut. The only thing I liked was the sugar donut. My girlfriend had the pernil sandwich and she was not impressed, not flavorful at all. They advertise they are opened until 9 pm. But the employees had their doors closed and talked to us through a window. The employee then told us that she had to clean and mop the floors.
