Drake's U-Bake Pizza & Subs — Restaurant in Port Angeles

Frankly, I visited with high hope tempered by past experiences here in the PNW where many things are good to excellent. Yet for whatever reason here in the Peninsula, sub sandwiches proved underwhelming, dry, stale bread, and most importantly tasteless. Then a friend suggested I try "Drake's. Immediately I asked where can I find this place having been in the region for better than 8 and a half years with no mention of by anyone to include the friend now making a referral. I make it my purpose to stop by this location and check it out. Upon entry, I exclaim, "You come highly recommended and I very hopeful of the buildup matching the taste of your food." The cashier sighed, and said, "We do our best," took my order and all the while very positive and assured. The sandwich chef went to work on 2 sandwiches I ordered. I can tell you I thought I was back in the New England state of Massachusetts on Harvard Avenue where stood a shop to die for. WENT IN ON A SATURDAY AT 1PM SO THEY SHOULD HAVE BEEN OPEN TILL 3. PLACE WAS PACKED WITH PEOPLE EVERYWHERE AND THE NOT SO POLITE LADY BEHIND COUNTER SCREAMED WE'RE CLOSED. AS SHE'S ALSO KICKIN OTHER PEOPLE OUT. I SAID IT'S 1PM ON A SAT?! SHE THEN SAYS WE'LL STAY DID YOU WANT EXACTLY. I POLITELY SAID NOTHING AT THIS POINT. 2 HOURS BEFORE EVEN SUPPOSED TO BE CLOSING AND NOT POLITE ABOUT IT AT ALL. :( I'VE EVEN CALLED ABOUT CINNAMON ROLLS AFTER OPENING WANTING TO TRY FRESH ONES. Went here with my husband for the second time ever and they did not disappoint!!! I got the full size Mexican chicken wrap which was HUGE, stuffed full of chicken, veggies, cheese etc and super yummy, highly recommend! My husband got the full size meatball sub and he said it was excellent also! We also brought home a couple of the cinnamon rolls and OMG they are AMAZING! We got one each of the pistachio and biscoff and I wish I had more! SO good! The staff are super friendly, and we got our food pretty quickly even though it was busy when we got there.
