I forgot how much I missed buffets since the “pandemic” of 2020!! My family and I visited this buffet for the first time today. We were in the area and the wife wanted sushi and sushi rolls. I wasn’t sure what to expect but when we went into the unassuming restaurant, oh my goodness!! Food galore! And right at the entrance was the sushi station. I immediately observed the sheer vastness of the different sushi rolls present. I was blown away by the fresh appearance and vast selection of rolls I’ve seen and enjoy to rolls and other sushi entrees I’ve never seen. Definitely a sushi roll lovers heaven! The sushi was limited to 3 different types. Not sure if it was a lunch thing or not, but they had my favorite “tuna”, so I was a happy boy.
Move on past the sushi and there was a nice salad bar, a variety of cold seafood salads, dessert bar, hot food dinner type bar with fish, ham and beef and an Asian style food bar with noodles, fried rice and various types of chicken and beef prepared in traditional Asian fashions.
I tried to eat everything they had there, as I like to get my moneys worth at buffets. I only wish I could eat more as I could only sample a small percentage of the food. It was all good, some better than others but I was very happy with it all.
This place also has a stir fry station which I did not get to visit as I gorged myself on too much and didn’t leave room for it. I did however look at the stir fry station and was impressed with the fresh options and the fact they cook it right before your eyes, after you select what and how much you want.
The service was good. There is a little bit of a language barrier between the servers and I, but they aim to please and try to engage the best they can even with the language barrier present.
At the time we went, almost noon on the dot on a Thursday, there was plenty of seating, the place wasn’t overcrowded. Which was very nice. It is a large place which appears to be able to accommodate a lot of people.
I am very happy with this place. The sushi and sushi rolls were my favorite. They tasted as good as they looked! My wife’s favorite as well, but there seems to be pretty much a lot of everything for every type of appetite and diet. I do thoroughly suggest this place to everyone. It’s definitely worth the visit, especially for the $13.99 price tag for lunch. You’ll definitely get your money’s worth.
I will definitely return again and again, especially for the lunch price/ value. Best Asian style buffet I’ve ever been to!!...

Read moreUpdate: This is still a great place to come and eat! Great service and clean and well kept dining area! The place was clean and efficient. They got us seated quickly and they were professional and friendly. There was no way the 3 of us could have sampled more than 1/4th of the items they had out. The food was ok. The stuff that I personally tried was varied and I went up 2x. Hot and sour soup was good. Most of the other items I tried lacked flavor. They weren't bad, but they were just sort of meh. If you decide to try them out, I would probably stick with more of the American type of food. If you do like sushi you will find a good variety and you may enjoy it. Me. Not so much.
New: Last Sunday we went to Buffet City at 2150 Tamiami Trl, Port Charlotte. This was not our first time there, but we decided to come there early and arrived when they opened at 11 AM. I have to say, this was a much better experience for us as it was not busy at all. The food was all so fresh and you could move easily and pick out the morsels you wanted with ease. The place was clean and bright and without all the people, it was actually delightful. One thing I appreciate about Buffet City is the sheer variety that you are presented with. The food was all good tasting and as I said, it was fresh. It is one of the best places around if you are entertaining picky eaters. Even the fussiest person is bound to find something they will like. They have everything from sushi to beef; green salad items to seafood salads. It's amazing the amount of different foods they prepare every day. If you are ever near Charlotte Square, you should stop in and see it for yourself. I know you won't be disappointed in what they have...
