Jalisco's Mexican Restaurant (Lo Mejor De Jalisco) — Restaurant in Port Hueneme

I just left this place with a bad taste in my mouth and it was from the wait staff not the food. We have been coming here on and off for a few years and never had a bad experience until this morning. I got off of my 12 hour hospital shift and just wanted to sit and have a nice meal with my family. Well right after we ordered I noticed two male staff obviously staring at us and laughing not just once or twice but continuously to the point one of the female waitress told them to stop and they kept going. I got pissed and waived one of the guys over and asked him what was funny then he played "no English" then the female waitress tried to say they were trying to give her a pill for her hangover and that's what was funny. Really? We just left and will never go back again. I didn't see any of the family working so maybe they were taking advantage of no management but they lost good business from us. No sleep+bullshit...

Fantastic fish tacos!! Good Jamaica as well - not overly sweet. Though the food was DELICIOUS and service friendly, the restaurant was understaffed. This was my very first visit, so my service experience could have been bc of staff calling out or lack of staff coming out of COVID restrictions. We were one of three tables when we arrived, and we could see from where we sat that staff were also taking phone orders and a couple of walk-up to-go orders. The wait for service, refills (drinks, chips, salsa, napkins), and the check took forever! I'm talking about a 15-min period when there were no service staff on the floor and multiple tables were waiting for their check and to-go boxes. Easily the best meal I’ve had in my traveling career. Was recommended to stop here and check out the seafood and oh my, the food was out of this world!!

Told the staff what I was hoping to try and they had an immediate recommendation as to what to try. I’ve never had a better seafood experience anywhere else! Not only was the food expertly crafted and seasoned but I had the best tasting margarita I’ve had in my life. I’ve been to 35 different states and I still think about going back to this place for more!
