Mama Vicki's has a rich history in Port Huron and it shows. When seated they ask if you even need a menu because most people have their usual meal they order every time. That meal? Coney dogs. Just like the name implies, the famous Coney island chili tops onions, mustand, and a perfect hot dog. I myself like to add liquid cheese for a more diverse flavor with more cheeses being available additions on the menu. Pair this up with an order of delicious thin-cut fries and you've got yourself a bangin' meal. I highly recommend ordering this for your first time.
As for the rest of the menu at Mama Vicki's, it's pretty standard diner food. Quality tends to vary more on other dishes as the cooks are primarily making coney dogs all day. Not to say they're going to be bad, but they'll rarely be perfect. For example, my girlfriend ordered a chicken sandwich: it wasn't bad but the chicken was a bit dry and overcooked.
Service is always good and because of the open concept of the restaurant it's very easy to flag down and employee for help. Speaking of the design, this place is firmly set in the past. Appliances are generally clean but are definitely old. The style of this place is very 1920s in layout and was probably last updated in the 1980s or 1990s. Seats aren't the most comfortable and the tables, chairs, and floor can occasionally be noticably damaged. Let's just say you're not coming here for a fine eating establishment that gets regularly updated.
You're going to Coney Island for a quick bite, with great food, in a place that feels lived-in. It doesn't tend to disappoint. I highly recommend Mama Vicki's...

I recently had the unfortunate experience of dining at Mama Vickys Downtown. Unfortunately, I cannot recommend this establishment based on the following reasons:
Poor Service: From the moment I entered, the lack of attention and warmth from the staff was evident. They seemed more interested in serving other customers and completely ignored my presence. It's disheartening to be treated differently because of one's race.
Cold Coffee: The coffee served was not only lukewarm, but it also lacked any flavor or freshness. It was obvious that the coffee had been sitting for a while, making it undrinkable. Disappointing considering coffee is a basic expectation for any restaurant.
Lack of Greetings: It's common courtesy to greet customers when they arrive, but I didn't receive any acknowledgment from the staff. It made me feel unwelcome and unimportant. Customer service is a crucial aspect of any dining experience, and this establishment failed miserably in that regard.
Overall, my visit to Mama Vickys Downtown was extremely disappointing. The poor service, cold coffee, and lack of basic greetings left a negative impression. I hope the management takes these issues seriously and improves their...
Read moreThe OG coney spot in town. Coneys can be Detroit style, or Flint style, but also Port Huron style. Mama Vickies will top the hotdog with onions and mustard first, then put the coney sauce down last. It makes it easier to get everything in one bite. Other coney places in town have started doing this too, but Mama Vickies is the original.
There is a reason why old relatives that come back to town always want to go have lunch at Mama Vickies. Its nostalgic, and they coneys are just like they used to be. This little part of the country has something special going with coney dogs, we should take pride in it, and we should be excited we still have an original coney island from the 1920’s.
They also make a great Hani wrap, another detroit coney staple. They need to call it a chicken pita melt because of lawyers,...
