My husband and I went to Sperry's Movie House in Port Huron for a movie date. After buying two tickets for theater #9, the ticket seller leaned over to my husband as we were heading up and said that that theater "wasn't working earlier in the day and if it doesn't work, just come down and get your tickets refunded." We should have left right then, but we did not. The women's bathroom was very messy with paper towels and wet spots on the floor. My husband said his bathroom experience was worse, with bugs in the dirty urinals. Anyway, we went up to theater #9, and for a movie that was to start at 2:40, was not running an advertisements. We sat down and didn't want to touch anything. The table trays were smudged with grease and the cupholders had food crumbs in them. My husbands chair did not function. We sat for a few minutes and he got up to go down to tell the staff it wasn't working. He called me on my phone and said that he got our money refunded. I stood up and announced to the maybe 15 other people that were in there, their laps loaded with popcorn, candy and drinks, the state of affairs, then went down to meet my husband and to make new plans from our lost time.
This entire experience was unacceptable from the dirty bathrooms to the dirty theater, to the fraudulently selling of tickets (and let folks spend a lot of money on snacks) for a movie that was already known to not be working. This is wrong and dishonest. We didn't buy snacks, but I sincerely hope the other customers got their ticket money and snack money refunded. We are regular movie-goers, but we will not be returning to Sperry's Movie House...
Read moreI wouldn’t know too much about the Sperry’s Moviehouse in Port Huron physical location, but what I do know is dealing with their customer service with an issue didn’t seem productive to me at all. I pre-ordered some tickets for a showing two weeks in advance, knowing I would have to have surgery on that Wednesday, which would give me about 10 days to heal and be ready for the movie. Well unfortunately for me, my surgery was rescheduled at the last minute and it would be the following week. I wouldn’t have enough time to heal so I contacted Sperry’s through email and explained the situation. I received an email back stating that they had a lenient refund policy so there should be no issues just call the theater when they open. Ok no issues. Well I started calling the movie theater and to my surprise, no one ever answered the phone. I was, however, able to leave a voicemail stating the issue and needing someone to contact me before the movie because I was told that the refund can only be issued before the date and time of the tickets purchased. Unfortunately, no one has contacted me, nor have they answered the phone for me to resolve this issue. Since the date and time has passed now and I still haven’t had the chance to speak with someone about my issue, then I had no choice but to leave this review about my experience. I can’t speak about the Moviehouse nor its value or worth because I didn’t have the opportunity to go see the movie. This review is only for the customer service experience that I had trying to resolve an...
Read moreI have always been a stan for Sperry's even with a couple prior less than stellar experiences. The theater is great, and it's a fun atmosphere, but it seems like every step of the way, the quality has gone down hill. I attended a birthday party in the arcade, where at no time was any employee present (except the one that brought pizzas down w/o letting anyone know they were there). An employee who "had only been there a few months" told us that our old gift cards couldn't purchase movie tickets (only concessions) because they switched to a new system (corrected by manager, just requires a manual override...silly). Went up to 2nd floor dinner...er 8th Street eateries (?), excited to try some of the new menu items...scanned the code on the table and was met with what appeared to be the same DinnerHouse menu as last time I was there 3+ years ago. None of the 8th Street Eateries menus anywhere to be found. A server brought drinks and menus that also didn't feature any of the 8SE unique brands or items. The online ordering app wouldn't take the gift cards...an employee tried to help, but also had no idea. Finally, in the lobby, a manager was located and able to offer an override so we could use our gift cards to order food. An immensely frustrating experience all around. I do understand short-staffing, but it's no excuse any of the issues we experienced in this visit. It seems like Sperry's keeps marketing itself as this cool, modern idea and place, but can't keep up with...
