Edit 2: At this point now, this location would have been better as parking garage. At least then there would be less struggle to find a place to park for all the other businesses downtown. Our city’s leadership took away decent parking spaces by doing the dumb bus terminal. What happened to the little coffee place there? Oh right it didnt work out. Just like everything else Freed and Repp and Larry Jones get their claws into. Check out my review of the Municipal Office Building.
March 1, 2024. A snapshot in time. An enormous beast crowds the walls of the city municipal building. An elephant.
Those who contribute to the coffer of The City of Port Huron deserve to know:
Who is Larry Jones? And why/how has he earned access to public grant money and endowments so that he can fumble around with failed endeavors?
A simple google search reveals contributions from the SCC Community Foundation, as well as the State of Michigan.
But much more relevantly, it is known the depth of involvement that the City Council, and city administration carries in this matter.
A recording was made public today. Regardless of the means it was disseminated, it speaks for itself. Although it is a video, the images are lacking and irrelevant. It is the words that are said that contain the truth. The words of a person that this City’s leadership has entrusted with a frivolous project. They reveal a scared, confused and angry man. His pride betrays him. And yet our Council has granted him the ability to effectively waste 16 million dollars into a building that is collapsing in terms of its soundness of construction, as well as its ability to generate revenue.
The public should demand the release of the City’s documented due diligence into Mr. Jones, regarding his merits upon which the City granted certian benefits.
The public is sick of leadership that brushes problems to the side for no reason other than convinence. It is sick of City staff whose addiction and carnal appetite call into question their adminstrative acumen.
Do better Port Huron.
Edit 1: I heard the hall is closing. Is this true?
Dona Marinas was the only good resturant, and they didnt make it. Everything else is decent but over priced.
You can already tell they dont have enough foot traffic.
Why do they have junk piled up on a public sidewalk? Why do the railing already look so bad? Why do the ingredients seem cheaper, and the portions smaller than when they first opened? Didnt someone fall from the rooftop bar because they werent up to code?
What is this about contractors not being paid?
This is a cool concept but it needs to be executed by...
Read moreThe Wrigley Centre is an absolute gem. The top sirloin at Port Steak was nothing short of amazing. Well worth the 44 dollar price point. I would pay that over and over again. Paired with the impeccable service from our server and then the owner, Mr. Lee coming over to ensure everything was satisfactory. Nobody does that anymore. The building as a whole was just amazing. There is a golf simulator, a beauty salon, a billiards room, corn hole and concert facility that holds about 650 people, an ice cream parlor and a bunch of other things, I'm sure I'm forgetting. Now, I have saved the best for last, the piece de resistance. The Laundry Room or the speak easy. This place is as majestic as it gets. There is a little puzzle to get in to the laundry room but you will have to go and figure this out for yourself. There is an end to end bar with fireplaces at each end. The bar is end to end, also. Again, service was amazing. The leather arm chairs have blankets for the ladies and the ambiance is like nothing I have ever seen, around this area. Can't wait...
Read moreLAUNDRY ROOM, so yeah we actually went to the Laundry Room inside Wrigley Center, which is a completely unmarked Speakeasy that you have to find.
You can get there by going through the Billiards room and looking for the door with a keypad. Enter the proper code and go into the closet. Once inside press the on button on the washing machine and a door will open.
The atmosphere is incredible with the dimly lit lounge chair and couch seating, $$ bags on the bar back, and on Saturday's a pianist setting the mood.
The drink's were fantastic and the price was inline with what most handcrafted spirits are at these days.
Food was very limited, pizza was the only option as a 16" NY round or by the slice. It would be nice for them to come up with an appetizer menu that you can snack on because as a pizza addict it wasn't the best, but I suppose you aren't really there for the food.
Service was likely the best we've had at a mixology place in some time and that was very nice.
We will most...
