Came here on a drizzly Sunday afternoon after a disappointing lunch at a restaurant nearby. This place really improved my mood. It's a really nice little shop, neat and clean, and smelled amazing as soon as we walked in. We were mesmerized by all of the delicious looking chocolates, cakes and cookies. While the employee helped another customer we decided on all of the things we wanted to try. My favorite ice cream flavor is pistachio and when we saw it on the menu, I decided I had to try it. I can say, it's the best pistachio ice cream I've ever had. It wasn't the typical green color that all other places feel the need to color it, and it had huge pistachios mixed into it. The perfect balance of salt and sweet. There was a place back in my home town I've been missing, but Carter's is actually better. This ice cream really tastes like home made ice cream. It has that mouth feel you only get from home made ingredients. Though, I'm not sure what machines they use to actually make the ice cream, it almost had that consistency of ice cream that comes out of the old hand crank machines our parents would let us take out and use every summer. My son got to try a few flavors, and they give you a full size real spoon full of ice cream, as opposed to the little wooden paddle or tiny pink baby spoon at chain stores when you want to sample flavors.
The chocolate clusters we tried were also very good, and we got something called a deep dish cookie which is like a cookie baked into a brownie. It was all VERY good. I don't think this place is too expensive at all for what it is and the insanely awesome high quality, and am confused by the reviewer who said they paid something like $14 for her two kid's ice cream, when we paid $14 for chocolates, a huge cookie and two ice cream cones. They are also very generous with their scoops on the cones as well, so you really do get your money's worth.
The young man working the counter was really friendly and helpful and knowledgeable of all the flavors. He was super courteous. It's always refreshing to be helped by someone who doesn't really have to be friendly, but chooses to be friendly anyway.
All in all, it's a great place, with great candies, cookies, cakes and ice cream. We plan on coming here a lot more often, considering how close it is to the foot ferry. Even on a cold blustery day, this place really hits the spot and will put you in a great mood and make you think of the ice cream...

I just had to take a moment to rave about my recent visit to Carter's Chocolates in Port Orchard. A bustling establishment in the heart of town, Carter's Chocolates is a must-visit spot for any self-proclaimed sweet tooth.
From the moment I stepped into the shop, I was swept up in the intoxicating aroma of sweet cocoa and other sugary confections. Despite the considerable crowd, a testament to their popularity, the atmosphere remained vibrant and warm, creating a wonderfully inviting ambiance.
The star of my visit, however, was undeniably their legendary Brickleberry Ice Cream. It was my first encounter with this particular flavor, and I can confidently assert that it won't be my last! A heavenly blend of toffee crunch bits (the 'brickle') swirled into a velvety berry-infused cream base, every spoonful was an orchestra of flavor. The balance between the tartness of the berries and the sweet, slightly salty crunch of toffee was impeccably executed, a demonstration of the craftmanship that Carter's Chocolates invests in their products.
And, even though the place was humming with customers on my visit, I was genuinely impressed with how efficient and prompt the service was. The staff managed the busy rush with professionalism and poise, ensuring that everyone was attended to quickly without compromising on the quality of service. Their commitment to their customers shone through, making the overall experience even more enjoyable.
In a nutshell, Carter's Chocolates of Port Orchard is a sweet haven where quality and customer satisfaction converge. The exceptional Brickleberry Ice Cream, the bustling but friendly atmosphere, and the top-tier service are indicative of their dedication to the art of chocolate and ice cream making.
So, next time you find yourself in Port Orchard, don't forget to stop by Carter's Chocolates. Your sweet tooth...
Read moreI ordered a graduation cake for my wife’s college graduation party. I ordered a white cake with buttercream frosting with maroon and gold writing. I received a cake that was yellow and once we ate the cake at the party we found out that it was lemon. No one ate any of the cake at the party and it completely ruined our experience. Not only that, but we had to call several times in order to receive a refund and the bakery gave us a hard time when asking for a refund. Not only did they refuse to make the cake correctly, but they were also incredibly disrespectful in their approach at handling this situation.
We were given a refund for the cake, despite there typically only being a gift card reimbursement, which we appreciated. However, it still made our experience much less than satisfactory.
If you have an important event and it is vital that you have the right cake, I would recommend taking your business to a different bakery. I am very disappointed with our experience.
Update after reply from the owner
I definitely asked for a specific cake of white cake with buttercream frosting (which is my wife’s favorite) and the description of color and “ASU Grad 2022” was relayed as well. Where I may have gone wrong was asking for the person assisting me to repeat it.
The details I gave in all phone calls and the review were consistent and based the experience we had. The claims about my inaccuracy and inconsistency are unbiased and I am not sure where the confusion lies.
And no, I do not regret saying the company “refused to make the...
