This is possibly the best place in town. Shout out to the restaurant and their Eggs Benedict - but also to the sandwich shop inside of the convenience store. The sandwich shop was perhaps the best value of anything I have purchased all year - I got 2 meals out of the sandwich for around 15 bucks. Hearty meals too.
For the breakfast, I made the mistake of coming on what may be their busiest day... Sunday morning. It was hoppin'! The owner of the joint was also the waiter and he was running around, but in an efficient way. My Eggs Benedict were as good as Eggs Benedict can be - top tier. I made a note to come back and spend more money here based on the service and quality of the food.
My 2nd visit in, I mainly spent time at the convenience store part of the building. Inside, and easy to miss if you aren't looking for it, is a sandwich shop. Not just any sandwich shop but perhaps one of the best hidden gems in Port Orford. I ordered a turkey bacon on a hoagie roll - it was MASSIVE... so massive that I actually walked back into the place after I had left... just to extend gratitude to the man who runs the sandwich shop (father of lady and father in law to guy running restaurant) - Anyway... getting your money worth can be a challenge these days and rarely do I ever feel "wow, I just got my moneys worth and then some" - that was the feeling I got after eating that sandwich for 2 meals. Anyway - top tier service - so friendly... attentive even when busy - and human. My recent few meals at the much more expensive, Redfish, up the road made me appreciate the lack of pretentiousness. Just quality food and literal mom and pop shop.
This place is an asset to the community and the food is top tier. If you are trying to decide between Redfish and here - this is...
Read moreI hate this whole "5 star" review thing. In 2025, there's s.o. much more to the food out there.....let's dive in. This small market "deli" is phenomenal. If you're in the area you have two choices.... Sit down for some grub (like I said, closes at 2 for sit down)OR (my option here) take it to go and find one of the dozens of beautiful overlooks to eat at, this place is a must stop. And here's why....their "grab and go" burritos are made in house and kept in a warmer, on the market side, ready for you to pick up and haul out. Got a minute, but not so long as to be served? Then order a deli sandwich, YOUR WAY. It won't disappoint or leave you feeling ripped off. Their sandwiches are a "no joke". W/ that said, this place uses average meats, cheeses and breads, but makes up for it in flavor! If you're down w a "naughty meal", then bless you and you m.u.s.t. stop here. If you're hung up on "grass fed" this, "organic that" and this oil vs that oil, then motor on. For me, my naughty meal awaits in in Port...
Read moreI see a lot of 5 star reviews, and I think people tend to overrate things.
I have eaten here several times for breakfast over the years, and they do a good job. Food is cooked very consistently and flavorful. I'd say the service is average, not bad, but not the best for being such a small restaurant, with a very small number of tables.
I'd say 4 stars, with one star removed (should probably be 2) for placing an automatic 20% tip on a meal where the server missed side dishes and the glass of milk I ordered.
FYI. If you want to charge more for your food, that's fine because I can look at prices and decide whether the value is acceptable, but do not assume you're worth a 20% tip.
I'd suggest people need to understand what a...
