I'll be honest, usually go to Whiskey Joe's or Hooters across the river but decided to go somewhere I haven't been. First impression walking up, typical Florida dive, not necessarily a bad thing. Interior appearance shows a good attempt, but if they brought in a designer, the setup they have could be amazing. On the edge of amazing, honestly. They had live music, and when I say live, I mean they had a man in front of a keyboard singing to canned music. Basic Yacht rock. He couldn't carry a tune if you put it in a bucket, just godawful, yet it was awesome. We sat in the outdoor covered bar area looking at the river, fantastic cross breezes, and watching boaters. Very relaxing. The wait staff was courteous. I had the banana bucket rum punch drink. It's really good. For food, we ordered appetizers first, the fried pickles and Gator tail nuggets. The pickles were thinning sliced, lightly breaded, and fried to a perfect crispness. The Gator tail came in a basket with fries and coleslaw. I had to call the waitress over to ask who made it, if it was done here, or if they ordered it in. I'll tell you that Gator is one of my favorite indulgences. I've had it all over Florida and in New Orleans. This was the absolute BEST I have ever had. The tenderness was nearly indescribable. Even the best prepared Gator has a little chew to it. This was melt in your mouth perfection. The seasoning was on point, not too heavily breaded and fried perfectly. I could have eaten my weight in it. Next up, the boom boom shrimp. Served on a bed of mixed greens, these little nuggets mirror their cousins bang bang shrimp from bone fish only better. Not overly spicy but a delicious sweet tangy flavor. Wrapped it up with the blackened grouper sandwich and coleslaw. It was the second serving of coleslaw, which was ok. Not great, not bad. The grouper, however, was simply amazing. Light, flaky, and not overly seasoned. Best Grouper I've had in a while. Next time, I'll just order the dinner plate instead of the sandwich because grouper that good doesn't need the bread. The downside is that the kitchen and service are a little slow, but once the food started coming, it was definitely worth the wait. They're definitely going to need more staff once people figure out that not only is the food fantastic, the prices are good too! I'll be...

What a wonderful turn around...My husband and I visited this establishment a little over a year ago and was not impressed at all by the service or the food. I'm in some local food groups on FB (we are huge foodies lol) and someone had posted about a dish starter they serve, the bourbon shrimp. It looked so good and all the comments said just that. So my husband and I decided to return for a second try. I wish we hadn't waited a whole year. We ordered the bourbon shrimp of course for our starter. I got a cup of clam chowder and a salad and my husband ordered the Grouper tacos ( they were out of sweet potatoes fries :-( so regular fries came with it) We always split whatever we get to share with each other so we both get a good portion of what we order. The bourbon shrimp is served with some nice soft but butter grilled bread for dipping the sauce and omg it is amazing. It was so good I wanted to lick the bowl. My clam chowder was nice and warm and very tasty. I ordered a simple side salad, I expected it to be small portion but I was served a full bowl and it was nice and fresh. My husband's Grouper taco was also very good. He ordered it fried, which is not how I like it but it was his order. The tacos had a good amount of fish. Lightly battered and fried up crispy. The slaw was a little thin but that's how I like it. The sauce they put on it was a little too spicy for me but luckily it was served on the side as we asked for it that way. Those of you that like spicy will love it. My husband did. The fries were also pretty good. Hot and crispy as well. My husband ordered a spicy bloody Mary and he drank it all so it must of been good. ( Bloody Marys yuck lol) I don't remember the name of my drink but it was very good, fruity and smooth. Not too much alcohol but not too little either. I don't usually finish my drinks but I did this one. The staff was very friendly and we'll familiar with the menu. I'm so sorry I don't remember her name to give her a shout-out but she was very nice. We sat outside and it's always so nice to sit and eat by the water. One of the reasons we fell in love with Florida. It was very clean inside and out and even in the bathroom. So all in all, we were very happy with this visit and will go back very soon instead of waiting a year...

We stopped here for lunch after dropping someone off at Tampa airport 3 hours early for a flight. First thing is they only had valet parking which was complementary, so...ok. We were seated immediately as there were many empty tables. We sat next to the window with a beautiful view of the bay. The sun was very hot so I lowered the blind a bit. We waited at least 20 min for a server to take our drink order. When she finally returned with drinks we ordered 2 cups of gumbo and 2 orders of fish tacos. After we had been sitting at the table for an hour the server placed 2 BOWLS of gumbo in front of us. I reminded her we ordered cups, not bowls. She said she would switch them out then she left, leaving the bowls but no spoons. We waited and waited some more, then while my tummy was grumbling I went to speak to the manager. He immediately said he would fix the bill and we should go ahead and eat the bowls of gumbo. I found some spoons and the gumbo wasn't hot any longer but very tasty. The manager checked on our tacos and assured us it wouldn't be long. Our server did deliver the tacos and they weren't hot either but they tasted good. I really liked the spices that were dusted on the chips. We asked for drink refills which were eventually filled. It took a while to get our bill, but the manager had graciously removed any charges for the gumbo. After we paid, we went out to retrieve our car. We found a large group of people waiting for their cars so we waited some more. In all our lunch was tasty but took about 2 hours. I'm really glad we didn't have our airport passenger with us because they would have...

If you eat inside, there is nothing exciting about this restaurant. It's plain on the inside (but there is deck seating if you don't mind the wind and bugs) Our waitress was hard to find. (Though other waitresses were always around. ) Ordered nachos, these are ok. If you ask for extra sour cream, you will get an additional small tablespoon container. Cup of New England clam chowder, decent taste but nothing I would order again. Next was my crab cakes, mashed potatoes and beans and rice. The beans and rice were the only hot food on my plate. Mashed potatoes were cold and hard, yuck. No waitress... so they continued to be cold as I ate the rest of my dinner. My crab cakes should have been hot but those were lukewarm at best. After I was almost finished eating, the waitress came by and I discussed the potatoes. She came back with a dish to reheat them. By that time it was too late. I didn't want them anymore. Then had a piece of apple pie cheesecake, which had small bits of some apple in it but pretty good. Unfortunately, I don't see us returning to this restaurant.
