Cathay Garden — Restaurant in Portage

We've been customers for about 4 years now. Over the years we've seen the quality slowly decline. The last time we ordered food from here my husband got a piece of METAL in his food, looked to be a piece of steel wool. We called and they offered to replace it for free the next time we came in. Okay- great! Well about a week later I called to have them replace the meal, and ordered some additional food as well. When I went to pick up my food, she tried to charge me for the "free meal". I explained to her that it was supposed to be free, and explained what had happened previously. She tossed the old receipt, and begrudgingly hand wrote out a new one, only I could clearly see she was overcharging me, for my additional meal as well as the sides. I pointed this out to her, and she said that the menu available online wasn't accurate. Okay...sure..so I asked to see the menu to take home. She quickly explained that THAT one wasn't accurate either. So finally, i went to the front where the menu is displayed for all the customers...she was CLEARLY OVERCHARGING ME. Again, I've been going here for years, and never noticed the price change. She apologized profusely and handed the difference back to me.

Aside from them stealing from their loyal customers, the food has been terrible as of late. The sesame chicken I always get is clearly of poorer quality, and is at least a week old as well. Extremely mushy and disgusting. I will never be going back.

CHECK YOUR FOOD FOR METAL AND WASTE AND CHECK YOUR BILL! THESE PEOPLE...

A local tasty treat. Location and environment. A nice location in downtown portage but blink and you will miss it in the streams of store. There is a big sign to welcome you in through. Plenty of street parking and around the side. It was a clean fresh looking place. Service and atmosphere. The service was fast and friendly and very helpful. The atmosphere was quite no one there on a monday night, the place seems peaceful with lots of decorations and water fountains. Food and drink. The food was very tasty and egg rolls were the best i have ever had!! Some stuff didn't look handmade but good. Could do with possibly adding more drinks like alcohol. Basic sodas and water. Overall, a nice local spot for some tasty authentic Chinese. Make sure to check it out when you get chance at...

I dont know why people would leave bad comments about this place. I think maybe other restraunts in town... who knows but this place is hands down the best chinese outside of Chinatown!! And the place is so clean I would eat off the floor. This is for leaving real reviews!!

I have had chinese everywhere. By far the service, portions, flavors, and prices are A M A Z I N G!!!! If you are in Portage don't eat anywhere else! I cant say enough good things about this place, for sure a Happy Accident we stopped in while passing through! We had the Happy Family and Tso's Chicken .

Dont be afraid of the building outside, its great on the inside (old school) but het they money is in the food people!!

The service is great the place is super clean!! LOVE...
