Cha³ Tea — Restaurant in Portland

The place was clean, pleasant, has internet and adequate space. It is highly popular with teens and young adults, but it isn't noisy. I would go there to do work like I would a regular café.

It has great potential but the options are limited in how you can modify the drinks. I think too many things may be pre-made. The matcha latte was very sweet and I couldn't change it. Although they had lactose free milk, the only vegan/vegetarian milk was soy (which I can't drink), no almond or oat milk. The sentiments about the Strawberry dream and Yuzu tasting pre-made by my accompanying party were the same. They are fairly new, so hopefully they will work on this, but who knows?🤷🏽‍♀️

The other challenge was the customer service, as in how the person spoke to me. Annoyed from the very start. I asked for suggestions - annoyed. I asked about the boba choices - annoyed, and I had to wonder if I must be a boba pro when I enter this shop, or was it simply a bad day for the person?

I’ve tried many boba places and I was highly disappointed with the quality of the drink that I received. I ordered a taro smoothie, and it was so bland and tasted like water. The cashier was super nice, and offered to make another drink for me. I ended up getting a Thai tea as well, and I ran into the same issue. Normally Thai tea’s are milky, creamy and sweet. This tasted primarily like tea, and was not sweet at all. I ran into the issue of the drink tasting watery, again. Instead of asking for a refund, I just went ahead and forced myself to drink it. Stopped by Cha³ Tea in Portland 🧋 I tried the strawberry creamy smoothie with strawberry boba 9/10 🍓 Sweet and just what I wanted!

My friend grabbed a taro creamy smoothie with brown sugar boba 9/10🧋 The right amount of sweetness it didn’t overpower the flavor. Will definitely be a regular drink.

Of course we had to get a snack so we got the taiyaki & pandan waffles . Everything was so good and fresh! If you like Nutella definitely try the taiyaki.
