China Wall Super Buffet — Restaurant in Portland

Walked in and loved the decor in the glass up front, unfortunately shortly after that the experience sharply declined. My friend and I were shown to our table, my friend sat down and the waiter started taking her drink order before I even sat down. What is worse is that he was blocking the way for me to sit down, he turned to me and asked my drink order while I was still standing. I chalked it up to maybe he's new to the industry and let it go. We then wondered over to the buffet as no instructions or menu was given. We each got one plate of food and began to dig in. Maybe 15 minutes later my friend begins to complain that she feels neasea. After running to the bathroom and throwing up the half of her meal she managed to eat, she came back. We quickly decided that we needed to get her home and opted not to eat anything to be safe. When we made our way back to the front to pay, we were blindsided with a $12 a plate price. They stated that on weekends its the dinner price all day. I asked where that was posted and she pulled a menu out from behind the counter to show me. I told her I was from out of town and was not familiar with their odd weekend policy and mentioned my friend became sick after eating their food. She wouldn't budge and stated the $30 price again. 20 years in the service industry and I hate leaving a bad review. But I will if the restaurant deserves it... You eat the buffet and get charged too much. When you question it with the woman at the cash register she says you were charged by how many pounds you ate . Nobody knows how many pounds you ate- how ridiculous. She told me yes they weigh it. I can say for certain no one weighed our food. We each went through the buffet once , (2 people,) I don't know what the weight of our food was but I do know we didn't eat 4 pounds of food like they charged us. It's a typical cheap Chinese buffet. All the same things and it tastes so so. That part I expected. They need to charge a flat buffet price instead of swindling more out of customers. Really bad business practice. I will give their egg drop soup 5 stars though....

I have eaten here alot over the last few years. Usually regardless of time of day it's really good but the last two times have been horrible. Food looks and tastes old, soggy and very far from fresh or even hot. Not much of a selection either. I had to ask them for fresher food. They made what I requested fresh for me which was great however they never switched the old out for fresh on the buffet leaving the rest of the customers to eat the old stuff which should been immediately replaced. I had to do that this time and the last time. Today it was around 2:30 so I understand that if you come between lunch and dinner that they may be switching from lunch to dinner.
