Taqueria El Tapatio truly epitomizes what it means to be a Taqueria.

This small stand makes delicious BT’s. The service is quick. The prices are fair. And the food is comforting.

I’ve only had BT’s here. It’s my go to when I’m on my way to work in the morning.

As a heads up. They are busy from 7:40AM to 8AM. Those are the only times I’ve been. They are quick, but if you’re pressed for time, I’d advise that you prepare yourself to wait in line anywhere from 5 to 15 minutes.

When it comes to the BT’s I’ve had the bacon, chorizo, and sausage, which all come with egg and cheese. REAL EGG🍳. REAL CHEESE🧀.

They serve the bacon BT in two different ways. One way the bacon is chopped, and the other way is served with full strips of bacon. REAL BACON.🥓

Get the strips. OMG. When I bit into the bacon strip bt, I felt like my sense of physical well-being was being restored.😌

No bs. Like the BT was injected with manna from heaven. The BT took me to a higher place. How often have you said that about food?

Lastly, they package the BT’s well. It’s wrapped in foil to keep it warm until you get to your destination. And they toss in a couple of napkins, salt and pepper packages, and one green and one red sauce. They cover everything.

…Ooohhh…just reminiscing.

I used to live in Mexico for two years, and from the valley. I know what Mexican food is and taste like from my grandmother. I moved up to corpus near the bridge to Portland TX. I checked every near my job area for a Mexican restaurant and none was good. My husband looked up a Mexican restaurant’s in Portland since we usually go there for everything and found good reviews at this restaurant. It was so good! The meat didn’t have fat! And that’s good! Prices are correct. I just wished they sold besteak tacos. I did read in someone’s comment that they are expensive. No they are not! In they valley it’s the same price or a dollar less and they are close to the border to get Mexican food supplies. FYI it’s a lot of work for Mexican food! Tamales are correct price for this area. Last Saturday and the Saturday before that my dad ordered beans, potato egg tacos and it was good. We’ve been ordering some of their tacos at times in the morning 2 years back and we were pleased most of the time. We’re not from Texas but I wish they had their service in the east coast where we live, these days Hispanic businesses are growing where we’re living at but their taco drive in is a classic smart business that attracts people to go and buy their food. One thing I would like to add which was quite troublesome was when I ordered a Gordita of Carne Del Pastor. The Gordita came with bell peppers, onions, beans, and cilantro if you wanted, the toppings were not a problem but when it comes to carne del pastor it would be better if you ordered it in a restaurant where they’ll take their...
