I used to come to the fried egg cart, just before they moved to this brick and mortar. The cart was replaced by a new one, serving very similar food. I started going to that other cart because it was closer to my home, more affordable, and honestly a higher quality of food. But, I had extra time this morning so I decided to walk down here to the Fried Egg brick and morar and have a sit down breakfast. The service was terrible, the staff was barely attentive, even during ordering, they were distracted and talking amongst themselves. I heard someone say they were out of eggs, which didn't matter to me because I was ordering vegan. There were multiple employees just standing around, ostensibly due to the lack of eggs, and there was no line, but even still my order took a long time to arrive and then came wrapped and sealed in a to-go bag, when I ordered it for here. The outdoor seating is a nice atmosphere but the vibes at the counter and from employees felt like judgemental athleisure bro-types with millennial malaise, and they were blaring country music 🤮. I regret leaving a large tip. I won't be coming back here, especially because the cart that took over when Fried Egg left the prost pod, is leaps and bounds better food quality, price and they also have an entire vegan menu, not just the one vegan sandwich that Fried Egg offers. The Better Half also has a much more...

Waited almost an hour for food. Which would be ok if we had been told up front, however we were not warned at all. In fact, they quoted the person in front of us 15 minutes for their order, so after waiting 54 minutes I was quite shocked when they unceremoniously plopped a greasy to go bag on our table.

We didn’t order a lot either, only two items, one sandwich and one burrito, so I was surprised by the long wait.

Checking up on our order after 30 minutes I was told that they were working on door dash orders and that we’d be “in the next wave, about ten minutes”. (Spoiler alert, it was not ten minutes)

When we finally did get our meal it was fine, but nothing I’d wait an hour for.

If you really want to try this place out you should probably just order ones door dash or Uber eats since they prioritize to go over dine in customers. Better yet go to one of the other dozen breakfast sandwich places in the neighborhood that can actually turn around an order.

Will not be back, and will stop recommending that...

Fried Egg, I'm in Love!

Everything was perfect. I ordered through Uber Eats and have been having a TON of issues lately with restaurants getting my order wrong, leaving out items and completely ignoring special requests. It is maddening!

But... Not Fried Egg! My yummy breakfast sammich was absolutely perfect. Every noted special request, addition, subtraction, everything, perfect. I have not enjoyed breakfast this much in many years! The toast was not overcooked or dry, each layer of ingredients was placed we'll, even the extras... So my delicious creation is holding together immaculately while I eat it. (Yes, I am reviewing while still eating this masterpiece!)

I am a demanding customer because I like what I like and how I like it... I tend to request a lot of add ons, substitutions, etc and Fried Egg nailed every single one... I couldn't have built it better myself. I will most definitely be ordering again when I can. This was a rare treat and 100% deserves a glowing review. Thanks guys! You...

We were in Portland for the first time, for a long weekend random getaway trip. Found Fried Egg I'm In Love our first morning for breakfast, and we ended up coming back once per day for the remainder of our trip. If I could only retain one memory from my whole Portland trip, this place would be it. Some of the best breakfast sandwiches I've ever had, that goes without saying, but what I truly loved here were all the creative names. I spent hours during our trip speculating & discussing with my wife what sort of creative process must have gone into coming up with "Huevo Mutilation". I can appreciate the sandwiches that are puns on "yolk" and whatnot, but this jump from Wave of Mutilation to Huevo Mutilation is absolute genius. I had the songs Wave of Mutilation and Friday I'm in Love stuck in my head for our entire trip, and I am not complaining. Oh and to top it all off, the Bloodbuzz place right next door has names inspired by The National!! This little food cart pod is like an indie/alt rock mecca!

We hit this spot on our self guided tour of breakfast sandwiches. It's a well known Portland food spot, which means long wait times, how it goes on the weekends. And fried eggs take a bit longer over precooked, reheated eggs. But if you are patient you will be rewarded. Very different from all the other spots we hit with their use of the bread and egg (most places used bagels and scrambled or precooked eggs). Bread was well toasted, egg was perfectly runny, toppings were good. Order food and they'll give you a buzzer when the food is ready, grab a drink from Bloodbuzz and chill. Just be aware of other peoples space (don't block aisles or the order window to Bloodbuzz with your entire group or by parking giant empty strollers) as it's a tight configuration when it's busy. Makes it harder for the staff to keep the flow of business.
