I had to change my review due to a recent visit to this establishment! It seems there's been something going on that I noticed on my receipt . There's a young man there that has been giving himself a tip when you use your debit or credit card. what happens is when you swipe or chip your cards he would flip the reader around and hit tips. I have given tips there before as the reader will ask and you have the opportunity to give what you want to give. However, on that particular day I didn't get the chance to offer a tip because he selected the tip as he flipped the reader around towards him. My daughter spoke to the manager and let him know what happened and he started to defend the worker. She said just give my mom her money back and we'll just go. As he did, he was asking the young man in (his language) if he did that and the guy says he didn't however I still had my receipt. Just be aware of using your cards there and always check your receipts. If you choose to give a tip ,cash only! This also happened to the lady before me!!!!Won't visit...
Read moreThis was my first trip to Gyro King and I think I have a new favorite place to eat in Portland.
I ordered a veggie sampler and an order of fried mushrooms to go. I got the tabouli to go with the falafel, stuffed grape leaves, hummus, pita bread and tzatziki sauce. Not only was it very delicious, you get A LOT for the price you pay (fried mushrooms are $4.99 and the sampler is $12.99.) Both containers were very full and there are definitely enough for leftovers later.
The guys working tonight were friendly and very efficient - there were several cars in the drive through and several more people came in the restaurant while I was there, but they got our orders out pretty quickly. The only thing that held my order up were the mushrooms - and even they cooked pretty quickly, despite the guy who took my order joking that they'd be done in 3 or 4 hours.
I will definitely keep Gyro King on my list of places for supper. I really want to try the lamb and the mint salad next time. I'm sure it'll be just as delicious as...
Read moreTried out Gyros King for the first time today. Overall a good new addition to the Restaurants in Portland. The menu is pretty varied with gyros, burgers, subs, and salads.
I tried out the Philly Steak and Cheese sub. Portion size was good for the price. The sandwich itself was tasty, I will probably get it again sometime. The fries with season salt were very crispy and soft in the middle. As a good French fry should be. Their Mango Tea was very delicious. I went back up for a few refills while I was there.
Service was decently quick and friendly. The restaurant still had some construction equipment out but the dinning area was clean...
