Harder Day Coffee Company — Restaurant in Portland

I live pretty close to this location and was really excited to have a proper coffee shop in walking distance to my apartment. I go here with my 9yo and toddler sometimes and my 9yo loves it (his review below). Their iced oat milk lattes are so good, I'm not like an extreme coffee snob just a tiny bit and they very clearly care about quality and have baristas who know what they're doing. They also have a good selection of pastries and sandwiches and even some vegan options. The staff are really nice too! :)

I was a barista for years and calling out the specific order instead of just "latte" is just standard practice so no one gets confused and grabs the wrong drink. I asked what the drink was that was on the bar for confirmation and the two baristas were so cold, confused and openly annoyed. And it wasn't my drink, which is fine, but when my drink was ready, the barista was so enthralled in a conversation and let the drinks sit on the bar until his conversation ended and finally screamed the order out. I jumped because i was not 10 feet away and coffee orders were mixed up so my partner and I didn't even get what we wanted. I have really been looking forward to this coffee shop to open, as it’s the closest one in walking distance of my home. Today I decided to have an afternoon walk and wanted to grab a coffee while i enjoyed the beautiful crisp autumn day. I stopped into Harder Day and stood at the counter for a full two minutes. There was no line, no one waiting, just 2 employees (a curly short haired blonde and a bearded hat wearing brunette) so embroiled in their own personal conversation that they seemed unable to acknowledge a customer in their store.
