Went in during their soft opening and ordered the POG matcha Fresca with aloe and strawberry matcha. They were operating on a limited menu and ran out of rice balls for the day which is understandable. The service was amazing everyone was super friendly, atmosphere is really nice- very IG worthy. However when I picked up my drinks from the counter I noticed the POG matcha Fresca didn’t look like the promo photo but I figured maybe they pre mixed my drink for me. Got back to the car and took my first sip and realized it was just straight up matcha, no POG. Sad day. It was refreshing but not what I had ordered. The strawberry matcha was good, I’d maybe adjust the sweetness a tad. I’d definitely give them another shot once they work out some of their kinks but I was a little sad about my POG matcha...
Read moreWent 2 times on my trip to Portland! I've been to the one down by UCLA a few times.
I tried the spam and egg...also had the cold matcha with boba (less sweet and less ice).
In general, it is good, but there are differences in the quality control of this location, like other Junbi locations. The amount of sugar added on the first day was good. The second day tasted a bit off. Spam and egg was ok. Took awhile for food to come out.
Should probably have more staff, since each time, it seemed like only one person was working at a time, so food and drinks came out slow.
Inside is nice and clean.
Street parking only.
Overall, great to see Junbi in Portland! Hope they can continue to keep up the quality!
Will be back next time I'm in Portland to...

The limited "food" is microwaved in plastic wrap (super toxic!), many of the the "unsweetened" drinks are still rife with sugar (like total sugar bombs), because of the pastes and flavors they use.
Not to mention that while I was in the cafe for an hour, I saw a dozen or more children and adolescents being served excessively high-caffeine drinks (read 16 ounce matcha, etc.).
Anyway, I would love to be a super neighborhood champion, but at the end of the day, I don't think we need another expensive drink shop that peddles over-sweetened, over-caffeinated goods. It's no better than Starbucks, or the...
