This was..... underwhelming & dissapointing. This was our first year ever going to the scaregrounds. Past years we always went to the fear PDX & never left dissapinted the way we did with this one... we chose to spend Halloween night here, & boy do I wish we had done the fear pdx instead.... it was very confusing from the start with zero signs or instructions to tell you where to go or how to redeem your tickets etc. Had to ask the security guard at the entrance (who was very helpful). Eventually made our way into line for one of the haunted houses. There weren't really many scare actors on the grounds themselves. And the ones that were just kind of walked around talking to ppl here and there. Props to the "tooth fairy" guy who was the funnest actor to interact with the whole night. Offering my children "2 human dollars" for one of their teeth lol other than that though ........ eh... the actual haunted houses we went through were extremely dissapointing. I know that the weather in portland cant be helped since it rains so much here but it was POURING on Halloween and there was no cover for the long lines so we tried to keep our moral up in the pouring rain as we waited to get into the haunted houses. Once we were inside though there were many areas inside the haunted houses that were not covered and had collected literal 3 inch deep lakes inside the haunted houses that you had no choice but to walk through as there was no way around them in the small hallways. At least 1/3rd of each haunted house were just dark empty hallways. Another 1/3rd were mostly empty rooms with a few small props set up but without proper lighting so you couldn't even really see them. Only about 1/3 had some average halloween decorstions/lighting that looked kind of cool, but definetly not very scary. But the most disappointing part? WHERE WERE THE ACTORS???? There were 3 haunted houses and in each haunted house there were MAYBE 3-4 actors spread few and far between. And out of those 3-4 most weren't even doing jump scares/chasing etc. Just standing there and talking to you as you walk past them. No hate to the actors themselves, but there just was not enough of them and they were not set up for success from the get go to provide a good scare. We had a group of 11 year olds and none of us screamed even 1 time...... by the third haunted house I literally starting running ahead to jump out and jump scare our kids myself since there appeared to be no actors doing so, and there were so many empty rooms and halls for me to do so without messing up the few actors that were there. All 3 haunts were incredibly boring and lack luster with each house being mostly empty halls and rooms with lame Halloween decor sprinkled about. There were also many tripping hazards throughout. Pitch black hallways with ramp edges and step ups that were impossible to see until you tripped over them into another large puddle.... by the time we were done with the 3 haunted houses the kids didnt even want to stay for the market or mini haunts. We will definetly not be back.... I regret very much wasting so much money to spend our...

My grandmother had purchased tickets for me and my partner with the hopes of it being worth the price ($250 plus the online processing fee). I had never been to Oaks Park before aside from going at the side entrance of the roller skating rink so I wanted the all access experience. We first started around the park, as I thought that these haunts would be spread about the park with scare actors roaming free, oh boy was I being so optimistic. This large ticket scare event was tucked into the way back of the park in an alleyway of Porta Potties and a wallet on its last breath. We aimed for the first house which was called "Slayers" and the set was a lot to be desired, it felt like a bunch of Spirt Halloween props (some were) stitched together to make for a poorly built facade with loose screws and big dreams. The house itself wasn't the worst in terms of sets, but still felt half assed the further we got through, with barely any actors and one that literally screamed "Boo I'm a vampire," while another literally said "Skill issue.". The lack of enthusiasm from these scare actors was tied up in a bloody bow with more Spirit animatronics sprinkled throughout. The worst house was the castle one with literally one actor on a throne saying utter nonsense while one at the tail end was fighting a pretty decent looking dragon, but literally was dying of weird word play and just not really selling a performance. The cinema house was a pretty big highlight and actually got me once, but still lacked actors. Next are these "side attractions". Blackout felt boring as there was no one in it aside from literally a preshow that lasted two seconds. The next was Carn-evil which really ran home the idea in my head that I was being robbed from the event for the high price. It was one brightly lit room, with clown music that a four year old found on Youtube and no "funhouse" in sight. I swear it was literally a tent, with a small hallway, and then you're done. With someone literally saying "What a ripoff". It was miserable and not in the way the website said was intended. This market was also just unfortunate, there was maybe one or two tents, with 3D printed slop and maybe two actually nice stores with very friendly people whom I had great conversations with. These escape rooms that were also shown on the website were nowhere to be found, I couldn't tell where they were and I don't even think they were there? Maybe I was looking in the wrong places but I couldnt find them. Or maybe the event was the escape room itself.
In the end, please I beg do not waste your money to go to this event. Your neighbor probably has a better haunt in his garage than what Oaks Park has to offer. The actors were terrible and looked like they either didn't want to be there or wanted to smoke a cigarette, the side attractions are robbery in its purest form, and the event left a sour taste in my mouth that left so much...
Read moreGod I would not recommend this. The fear Pdx haunted house or corn maze is so much better. I spent $140 for me and my boyfriend to go only for it to be the most overstimulating yet underwhelming mess I’ve ever experienced. To start the night off, it took us 40 minutes to find a parking spot. Every single parking spot was taken and there was hundreds of cars circling in and out of the parking lot. We ended up having to diy a make-shift parking spot because we had no other choice. Why would they not sell tickets according to how much parking is available? They WAY over sold. When we finally got in, the lines to everything were extremely long. We were stuck next to middle schoolboys pretty much all night long making jokes about that “6 7” thing and talking about how funny it is to get a girlfriend and dump her to see her cry..smh. It was freezing and raining outside so it was really hard to make the best out of the wait. The characters that walked around were not acting in character or being scary at all. One guy came up and said something then broke character and just laughed and walked away. When we finally got inside, the haunted house felt like it was maybe 5 minutes. There was maybe 3 real people characters in it jumping out and scaring us and the rest was just weird Home Depot looking halloween decorations you just walk by. I tripped on some weird divot in the floor in a pitch black room in one of them and banged my knee up. It was a total tripping hazard and dangerous thing to just be there. We also paid for the cake carnival clown themed add on and that was the biggest joke of it all. You walk through this tiny room for maybe 1-2 minutes tops and then you’re done. The girl dressed as. Clown working the door of it was the most obnoxious person I’ve ever encountered - somehow even in character she was over the top too much. She kept doing things that weren’t funny or interesting and practically begging my boyfriend and I to watch her do it while we were in line. I would highly suggest saving your money and not coming here. I wish so badly I could get my money back. I usually don’t mind spending my money on cool experiences but I’m genuinely so bummed that I spent my money here. I feel like I just threw $140...
