I put a reservation in for my fiancés birthday. I actually cancelled another reservation because last time we dined here at Kaizen we had such an amazing experience and I wanted to have that again for his birthday. When we got there we were greeted and were seated. More people came in after us, they were all seated and received water before we even got water. We are patient and let it go, there were only 2 waiters working. The waitress came over and apologized for the wait and took our order. From that point we were pretty much avoided like the plague. We received our food but not our drinks, they were not even made but everyone else in the restaurants got their drinks and refills. We had to slow down on eating so we could enjoy our drinks with our food. The waiter even refilled everyone’s water around us but skipped us; he would’ve even make eye contact or talk to us. The waitress came back to finally ask how the food and everything was, we then ask about our drinks. She proceeded to make my sake flight but my fiancés drink took another 20 minutes while the waiter took his time to make it and then stopped in the middle of making it to help other table get a refill of wine. At this point we were done eating and my fiancé had to chug his drink because we were all done at this point. Very disappointing from start to finish. Having this issue on date night would’ve still been awful but the fact that it was for a birthday was worse. They didn’t make it special in anyway. It’s a shame because we were ready to...
Read moreFirst time at Kaizen, we made a reservation and arrived on time. The server was great, it was her first day at the job. We order four rolls and miso soup. Five minutes later Miso soup arrived, pretty good. And then wait, wait, wait and WAIT. Since we were in a sort of attic on top, it was pretty frustrating. Our food arrived one hour and ten minutes after we order. Everything in one plate, as we weren't familiar with the rolls we ask her "is that all ?" (We order four rolls but it looks like two rolls in the plate. The server said "no! there is one more coming". Fortunately I took a photo and I could show her that we received just two and not three rolls. Really confusing! She put a lot of effort to make things right and deducted the miso soups from the bill and at the end she brought an extra roll. It was not a great experience. They were only two people making sushi without a pause with a full house, but it wasn't enough. They need at least two more people making sushi between 6PM and 8PM on Fridays and Saturdays. I know, it's a new restaurant, they have a lot of experience in the business, according to what I read, but over an hour wait when you are paying for a no cheap sushi, is unacceptable. People from other tables also complained about the wait. After this experience you don't even remember if the food was good or not, but yes, it...
Read moreI wouldn't know what an experience is like here. Their website says for the "Omakase Experience" they want you to call to make a reservation, but that task seems to have been easier said than done. I called twice and it seems the person answering phones didn't know how to operate the phone system or it was having numerous issues. The first time I could hear them but they couldn't hear me so they hung up after a few seconds. I called right back and this time the person could hear me, but after I asked about making a reservation for the "Omakase Experience", they stated they'd need to put me on hold while they went to grab a pen and paper. Instead, the phone was just set down for a minute before they came back, then put me on hold for several seconds, answered the phone like it was a new call, when I responded they put me back on hold, took me off hold again and didn't say anything and even when I asked if they'd grabbed what they needed I was put back on hold for several more seconds before being taken off again and then hung up on again. I'll take this as a sign to go try someplace else instead and maybe try here again...
