This place is absolutely great for the EDM vinyl-lover, both for the at-home hobbyist or big-heads producing or guys mixin' at the clubs. Even though it seems deceptively small, you should be sure to set aside a couple of hours before you start digging here. AND I DO MEAN DIGGING. There's no computer terminal, no easy-search for where everything is and what they have in stock. Instead come prepared, put in your research, figure out what labels you like, and go from there; you might not find the specific tracks you were looking for, but I definitely found a lot of my favorite artists, and surprised with a few familiar tunes [and a familiar old hometown friend who apparently has produced something since I've been gone!!] I had a blast with the staff, totally down to earth, and all of them bringing in their own flav to the place. Don't be shy, chat with them, tell them what you bring to the scene, what your music selection is like, and they'll at least point you in the right direction; since their layout is a little difficult to navigate, but with their recent re-organization along with just time spent there, you'll figure it out quick.
Also, there's a bunch of great DJ equipment here, not sure on their pricing though, didn't spent that much time in that department, but they definitely have a large selection...
Read moreI bought my first set of turntables from Platinum Records, when I was ONLY 27 years old. I wanted them so badly, I had to talk Scott into letting me put them on layaway, which I am eternally grateful to him that he did.
Technics were around 1,500 dollars for the pair back then. I didn't have a lot of prior knowledge of exactly how turntables worked. Just knew I needed them to do what I wanted to be able to do!! I was really passionate about DJing and mixing vinyl.
Finally I got them and I was able to become one of the top DJ's in Seattle Some say the first, or pioneering female DJ.
I started Seattle DJ Academy in 2014, with the mission of enriching, empowering and inspiring up and coming DJs to become who they are supposed to be.
I have received overwhelming interest in the Academy, and created a new demand in the market place for the future of DJing.

Thank you Platinum Records for giving me my first BIG opportunity!
