Visited three time since Sep 14, 2024.
I will definitely come back on the weekend for the shrimp omelet and biscuits and gravy to provide my overall feel for this place.
It's super cozy corner spot of Alberta and NE 15th Avenue with only 5 square table sitting for 2 and bar bench sitting for 4 along the right side of the store facing 15th Ave. There was no outside sitting during this visit. The staff sat at 1/5 square table in the corner also facing 15th Ave. I suggest plan accordingly if you have big party and or during their peak hours or on the weekend.
I didn't care much for the two drinks I got. I applauded their creativity with the flavors and the textures mixed for the đặc biệt waffle gf!
Cà phê trứng $7: it didn't do anything for me. I did appreciate that it was overly sweet nor tasted all eggy like some places. Beside this, the texture was a bit creamy for my preference. The coffee wasn't as strong for my taste.
Pandan coconut $8: I think that what it called but I can't remember exactly. It was too bland for me.
Hoiicha banana bread $4: I liked the chunk of banana for taste and texture, and not overly sweet. Otherwise it's not something I would crave or order again.
Đặc biệt waffle (gf) $17: fish sauce bacon, arugula pandan waffle, fried egg* spicy syrup, fried garlic. As I mentioned above, I appreciate their innovative for texture and flavor for this dish: chewy from thicker waffle, savory of spicy syrup, thick cut and moist fish sauce bacon, runny fried egg, and fresh green arugula were all got along nicely! If you like your bacon crispy and waffle crunchy, this is not your dish.
I didn't see any self serve water station and I wasn't got offered water.
Clean, roomy, gender neutral one stall restroom with bright green walls.
I'm planning to come back with friends to check out their weekend menu and will update this review. The shrimp omelette, biscuits and gravy sounds delicious!
Follow and or check their instagram page for the most updated hours and menu as they still iron out logistics and staff for being recently opened.
This is their September hours as I'm writing this review. hours this month wed - sun 8am - 2pm
P.Y. No toilet...
Read moreSummary: would’ve been better if that du ma sauce did not ruin my entire meal lmao.
Food: lots of delicious items and out of everything I tried (pictured below), I’d say the shrimp egg bowl is the most worth it. It taste fresh and simple but if you’re a fan of pork, the biscuit and gravy one is also interesting. Didn’t like the pandan waffle with pork because the sweet and savory contrast was too different. And as for my burrito, that du ma sauce genuinely ruined it. Because if you’re NOT a fan of ginger, that is all you’ll taste. And as my burrito had the sauce wrapped w it already, was so hard to overlook the STRONG ginger taste. Had to bring it home and drench it in other sauces to mask it. Besides that, the presentation was pretty cute
Price: reasonable for its portions and quality in terms of food. Thought the drinks were expensive af for its size as it was like $6-8
Menu: Be aware that depending on when you come, some items might already be sold out. So although there’s a menu taped outside, it’s the menu on the table that will say what you actually can order.
Service: it’s a order at the front before you can sit down establishment. And although you’re encouraged to help buss the table after you’re done eating, it’s more so of having to wait for the workers to help clean and tell you where to sit.
Atmosphere: pretty cute decor and AMAZING music playlist lol. We were def jamming along with the cooks as the music was popping. Seating arrangement wise, it can get very crowded and tight. And as mentioned above, you’re only able to dine in and eat if there’s table availablility and with how seemingly popular this place is, might be hard to snag a table. So plan your time wise as parking seems a lil tough too.
Note: if you’re a hater of ginger, skip the du ma sauce. Even the tiniest taste is a blast of ginger. Save your...
Read moreA new favorite for me. I've loved all the drinks so far. I also adore how fresh everything tastes.
I also appreciate the staff. My partner is going low carb and asked for no rice with his omelette and they offered arugula instead. I know a lot of places that would just remove the rice and save the money. Totally in love with this place.
My only gripe that isn't controllable is the place is so small. When this spot gets super popular, it'll be hard to find seats 😭
--- drinks --- pandan soda with espresso ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ loved this really interesting the flavors didn't clash
Peaches and cream ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ it is what your expect it isn't overly sweet delicious, I don't taste the matcha that much but I don't mind
--- food --- Bowl with curried mushrooms ⭐⭐⭐⭐✨ wish it had more fresh vegetables needs kale or something leafy to cut the oil curry doesn't have a strong taste, hard to taste it here
Shrimp omelette ⭐⭐⭐⭐✨ should have asked for hot sauce for more flavor flavors complement each other well fluffy pancake and juicy shrimp the basil ties the dish together my partner said it almost doesn't need the shrimp because the tomato and basil carry it
Burrito with fish sauce bacon ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ this was so juicy it didn't even need the hot sauce for me the bacon was so fatty in a good way, was almost like pork belly. It was also perfectly charred.
Breakfast sando ⭐⭐⭐⭐✨ pork sausage was really good the egg was so runny and delicious the milk bun tastes like a...
