First, the prices are about what you are charged at any other corporate coffee shop and about a dollar to $2 more than at your ma an pa locations. Service is friendly when they are present and not gone somewhere with the doors locked and the OPEN sign on. Finally, the atmosphere, it's a coffee shop that feels like a mini mart was crammed behind the counter with so much extra stuff I kind of forgot why I was even there. The main seating area is also confusing with a office desk for sale and a random assortment of chairs and couches that are all broken down and trash I had a hard time hearing my friend I was sitting next to when, I can only assume, the owner's kids came into the shop and started helping themselves to whatever they wanted behind the counter and then came out and one of them watched a movie as if they were in the privacy of their own home and the other one did similarly while playing a video game on their phone both at full volume. The older one actually told the younger one to turn the volume down so he could hear his movie better. I find it very frustrating that the owner didn't seem to care what a nuisance his kids were being. I find it strange that they were also selling Bluetooth headphones behind the counter. I got the impression that the owners essentially treating this as child care. Perhaps they should open up a child care facility upstairs and then he can really bring in some money and annoying kids will just be expected. They seem to encourage people to hang out and work I just don't see how anybody's getting anything done there with the owner's kids screaming and...
Read moreI have really bad skin so I purchased the tanning package for $100 this summer. I have never been an avid tanner and was recommended this for my skin. I purchased this package from the girl in the Drive-Thru and she wrote on the back it expired in one year. I used it once and I came back a few months later to use it and the owner told me they have no record of it. I told them to look into it compare the signatures from the girls and I even encourage them to take my picture with a cell phone which they did. He says he looked into it and could not find any record of my purchase. That is not my fault as I like to support local businesses and that is why I chose this place. Instead of admitting the businesses mistake of not keeping a record, he chose 2 give me one of two options. Either he would honor two more tans out of the eight or nine that I had left on the card or none at all. I was thoroughly disgusted with this so I told him none at all. This business stole my money. The owner is sleazy, arrogant, and not customer first. You guys really left a bad taste in my mouth. Do...
Read moreThe most comfortable café for studying and doing work.
The Mocha Express café became known to me through Google maps, and being so close to the South East Portland Community College campus, I was curious to experience this place. The Mocha Express café is not just a café, it's designed to be a destination for social gathering, studying, and work, and you will find yourself spending hours here. Rather than a modern café asthetic, Mocha Express aims for comfort and relaxation, offering couch seating near the fire place, several tables for one on one conversation, and sections by the sides for private studying or work, including 2 computers with high-speed internet. Located at the heart of the 2 storie building is the register where the kind staff greet you and takes your order. They offer name brand snacks and fresh pastries to enjoy with a hot or cold coffee, boba tea, or other fruity drinks. I just discovered this café and it will be my go to study café for the rest of my time...
