5 stars for the food and service and 0 for the women doing the books when I walked in on Valentine's Day by myself. Instead of asking 'how many?' she unenthusiastically asked 'can I help you with something?' I responded with 'a table for one please'. I ignored the pitying looks from the other patrons enjoying the holiday together and was committed to treating myself. I brushed off her disapproving glare and instead appreciated the kindness a nearby waitress was showing a woman and her special needs guest. This is because I am brain injured and I love seeing people with disabilities being treated like human beings. I had not even finished my meal when the last table aside from mine cleared and the bookkeeper came over to ask if she could run my card. I was surprised but gave her my card anyway and overheard her crossly telling the waitress to settle my bill. I self consciously began finishing the side of hashbrowns I had just ordered when she came back over and told me, 'you know we close at three, right?' (It was 3:10 and I was not aware of their hours.) Naturally I was mortified. I worked in the service industry before my brain injury and wouldn't wish lingering customers on anyone. Unfortunately my disability limits me from observing and understanding things that come easily to most. That's why it was a big deal for me to walk to Pig 'N Pancake on a heavily weighted holiday by myself. Challenges that may seem small to you are like mountains for me and I was feeling so proud of myself for being brave. That is until this bookkeeper, clearly eager to accept and count my limited income before pushing me out the door, made it very clear that my oversight was grossly inappropriate and shattered my pride with heartless public humiliation on Valentine's Day. To the waitress who apologized and told me to take my time finishing up -thank you for your kindness- it won't be forgotten. Unfortunately it's not enough to bring me back. Bookkeeper lady... if you do not want people dining at your restaurant past closing I suggest kindly letting them know upon arrival what your closing time is and offering to prepare their order to go. Giving them the impression that they may dine in by allowing them to place an order, asking them to pay before finishing, and then practically pushing them out the door is a great way to destroy a potential repeat customer, invite negative reviews and create poor word of mouth. Beyond that it is risky business to discriminate by treating visibly disabled guests well and invisibly disabled guests poorly. Portland is tight knit community where federal human rights and equality are respected and enforced. To potential patrons reading this - Cleary's Restaurant is very close by and although it's appearance on the outside is unassuming their breakfasts are delicious/huge/fairly priced and I have always been treated with patience and kindness there. That is where I will be...

From the moment you step in the door, you'll be greeted with a smile and seated promptly by the attentive staff. The menu features a wide variety of breakfast options, including classic favorites like pancakes and waffles, as well as unique dishes like their famous Pig 'N Pancake omelet.
Speaking of the food, it's simply delicious! The pancakes are light and fluffy, the omelets are filled with fresh ingredients, and the bacon is crispy and flavorful. The portions are generous too, so you definitely won't leave hungry.
What really sets Pig 'N Pancake apart, however, is the atmosphere. The cozy interior is perfect for a lazy weekend breakfast with friends or family, and the staff really goes above and beyond to make you feel welcome and at home.
Overall, I would highly recommend Pig 'N Pancake to anyone looking for a delicious and satisfying breakfast. With friendly service, delicious food, and a cozy atmosphere, it's a real gem and a must-visit spot for...
Read moreWhat just happened..? Were invited to go with family and friends, i luckily had the garden burger as it was edible-ish, others were not so lucky. My wife could only stomach 3 bites of her fish sandwich, which was of burger king quality but perhaps worse cause of the insane amount of what i suspect to be tarter sauce of a rotten variety it was bathing in. There was also a burger which was obviously cooked in the same pan as the "fish" sandwich so that was unedible, the fourth was a waffle which resembeled a pancake with a waffle print pressed into it. She was not commenting on the waffle out of respect i'm sure.. In the end, there was 3 non eaten plates on the table and a $46 bill that we didn't even think to refuse out of kindness. Bottom line, i knew we were going into a diner in a plaza, but the food was below fast food quality and it will take a long time to erase this experience from my memory. Dennys is fine dining in comparsion and thats beyond sad. I wouldn't even know how to help them, there just so far behind..this place is...
