TLDR; I usually love Popeyes and never have a problem, but this is the WORST Popeyes location I’ve ever visited and you could probably go to any other Popeyes in the area for better service.
We went through the drive-thru and there was one car at the speakerbox, another after them, then us. The first car took a while to order, I didn’t think much of it, just someone taking a long time to order, I guess. Next car goes up, THEY take a long time to order, so now I’m thinking, couldn’t be TWO slow orderers, could it? But then we get up there, and…crickets. Usually if there’s a lot going on at the window or in the restaurant, you get some sort of a greeting and “I’ll be with you in a moment”, but no.
So after a few minutes, I say, “…Hello?” No response. Wait a bit longer for a response. ATP it’s been about 5 minutes (we went through a song + some while waiting AT THE SPEAKER w/ no order taken). So now I’m thinking maybe the other cars took forever because the speaker’s broken or maybe their headset is having issues or something (I used to work in fast food, so I know sometimes that tech glitches and there’s nothing you can do), so we pull up.
The cashier is just getting to the woman in the car ahead of us to take her payment and she’s glaring at me through the window as she does it. So wait a few more minutes for the lady to get her food and then we pull up. The woman in the window is almost IMMEDIATELY rude. She says something about being busy and I’m like “Oh, I’m sorry, is it something going on with the speaker?” She bluntly says no, she had someone at the window and someone at the counter (drive-thru person is the same as the counter? Odd…I’ve only seen this during slow times, definitely not late-lunch times) she said to hold on. I’m like, “No, I don’t think so, otherwise I wouldn’t be at the window like this, but I think your speaker might be broken then…” so she then asks me to park out front and I’m like what? No I don’t want to go inside, I want to order here? Now I’m confused because if nothing in the drive thru is broken, why are you trying to get me to go inside? But then she starts making a circle gesture…SHE’S TRYING TO GET ME TO GO BACK AROUND TO ORDER!!! Again, been there, so I’m guessing there’s probably some sort of timer for their service metrics, so it would help them if I went back around, but ultimately, that’s not my problem. Even then, if I put my order in at the window, I would’ve been fine with parking and waiting as long as I knew my order was being worked on and their timer would reset for the next person. She could also have taken the order, just let the timer go—ONE order might bring down the average, but a standard of great service throughout the day wouldn’t bring it down that much. So many other problem solving options too!
But no, she was trying to rush me through/back around as though she’d already started taking the next car’s order and my order was an inconvenience…but I know she hadn’t yet because even THEY were still at the speaker when we drove off finally. No thanks lady, why can’t you take my order here because H*LL NO I’m not going back around behind the 5 other cars that have lined up behind me. But she just keeps insisting I go around and refuses to take my order at the window so we drove off.
We went to the Popeyes on MLK instead which had MUCH faster and kinder service and where I’ve NEVER had a problem in the 20ish years I’ve gone there. I live in Vancouver and haven’t ever had any service issues with either of the locations over here either. I was pissed initially (a frustrating waste of time) but now I’m just a bit shocked. I’ve truly never experienced the kind of rudeness and lack of effort to problem-solve like that.
Ultimately, I won’t be going to the 82nd spot ever again after such trash service and by the looks of several other reviews, this seems to be the rule rather than the exception. Whoever owns this location needs to get their employees/training program all the...

We placed our order- waiting about 10 minutes- no biggie. But while we were waiting there is about 5 others waiting for their order as well. I hear the shift lead, Sherry, disrespectfully reprimanding another staff. Using foul language and just being degrading. I ask her if she can take that to the back room because I don't want to hear it and the customers shouldn't have to either. It was very uncomfortable. She threw her hands up and said whatever. I saw another staff whom looked like a manager because she had a different colored shirt on. Her name is Seng. I asked Seng if she was the manager and she said yes. I asked her if she could have Sherry talk to her staff in private so other employees and customers don't hear it. She walked over to Sherry and told her that she was a 'retard'. Mind you, we all heard her and there was a lady at the counter whom was visibly disabled and she's calling her staff a retard?!! This did NOT sit with me well so I asked for the regional managers contact information. They wouldn't give it to me. They said there is a toll free number on the door I could call. I get my food and walk out. As I walk out Seng says to Sherry 'People in inter-racial relationships think they're better than everyone else'!
Umm... what. Yes I am white, yes my husband is African American... did she really just say this?? I went back in- heated, disrespected, hurt and angry. I asked her what she just said and she stood there with the deer in a headlights look. I asked her again, she replies yes I said it, but it wasn't directed towards you. As I was confronting her about being a racist- a gentleman names Fahad came in. He was in a formal Popeyes button up shirt. He was some sort of upper management. I explained to him what had happened. And he just stared at me. Didn't ask for my name, didn't apologize. Didn't say he understood why I was so upset. I was shaking. Tears were flowing from my eyes. I just said I need someone's number- he gave me a mans name Rami's number. I have called and haven't heard back.
Please help me in sharing this. This is unacceptable. I am hurt. Out of the 10+ years I have been with my husband I have never experienced...

Location: on NE 82nd Ave in Portland across the street from a lingerie modeling establishment with working girls wandering up and down the sidewalk outside the store. A guy asked us for money inside the restaurant twice while we were waiting...and waiting...
Customer service: Because they didn't actually have their full menu on display anywhere I had to ask what sides were available and whether or not they had a kids meal. The woman taking our order said it was only her second day, so she didn't know, but what do we want? I said, I'd like to know what our choices are and so she listed everything on the menu (reading from her cash register) and it kind of reminded me of when you go to Applebees or Red Robin and ask what beers they have and they list 25 in a row. She told us that a lot of people were ordering chicken sandwiches, so it would probably be about 15 minutes. We waited 15 minutes and then I went up to ask how long it would be--another worker chastised me for waiting so long to say anything and said they'd make ours next. Then another worker said, "Ooh, look at you not getting your food--you're gonna get some free stuff!" So we got that box of biscuits.
Prices: As usual, kids meals are cheap and combos are the same price as a sandwich and a side. e.g. free soda. I spent about $11.50 for us both to have lunch and so that's pretty cheap.
Food: Anyway, my daughter ended up ordering chicken tenders and a side of mac and cheese. Because I'm a good father (or bad, depending on how you look at it) she got 1/2 Orange Fanta and half soda water to drink. She liked everything she had, but liked the biscuits best. I had the spicy chicken sandwich and it was pretty good! It could have used a lot more spicy and more than the two pickle slices--but the amount of chicken was quite generous and pretty tasty. I'd get it again. But I probably wouldn't bring my daughter, and I'd probably be less sober. Oh, the coleslaw was pretty bland and I thought the mac and cheese was...
