The cameo cafe is definitely a case of looks can be deceiving. The place looks cute (on the inside) , the reviews look nice, but the food was awful and somehow the service was even worse. My husband and I were looking for a new favorite breakfast place and had hopes based on reviews this might be the place. Items on their specials are apparently only available on certain days, so he went with a Portland burger and hashbrowns. I ordered their expensive corned beef hash special. Mine was almost inedible and super disappointing. I have never had such waterlogged hashbrowns in my life, including the kind you make yourself from a box. The hashbrowns on both of our dishes were literally mush that completely fell apart in your mouth, but not in a good way. I’ve never had corned beef hash with hash browns (usually it’s diced potatoes) but I cannot stress enough how awful the dish was which was super disappointing. The server pressured us to order, and as many others have said , once the food was served the bill was served. They came by multiple times and asked us to pay then, so we did, then they wanted us to tip and sign when we had barely begun eating. They never checked on the food or if we needed anything, despite hovering most of the time so they could grab the plate when we looked done with it. We came in close to 2 when they closed at 3 so maybe that’s why, but they had at least three other customers after us so we weren’t anywhere near close to closing. The service was seriously the worst and despite the homely decor everywhere the place left us with awful food, high prices, and horrible service. I recommend trying somewhere else if you’re looking for a good time. P.s. I know the food might look good, but it was awful. Sharing a picture to say looks can be deceiving, as can everything else about this restaurant that makes it seem good when it’s...
Read moreI’m sorry to say but the meal that my friend and and I just had at this place has to be one of the very worst diner experiences I’ve had during my 60+ years on this planet. I rarely write negative reviews, and take no pleasure in posting this one, but my experience, and my displeasure was so egregious that I feel I have no other option. It’s located not far from the hotel we’re staying at near the airport here, and it had a good number of good reviews. I should’ve known better and just walked out as soon as we sat down and smelled some really dank, revolting smell in the place. Don’t know whether it comes from the gross carpets, animal urine, or bat guano in the walls, but we were very hungry, tired from a long flight, and decided to just go ahead and order. Maybe the smell was only from the rotten meat. YES, WE SHOULD HAVE LEFT THEN. I ordered a combination of a hot cake, two eggs, and sausage. The hot cake was about 12 inches round, cooked OK on the top, but undercooked on the bottom. It came with a chunk of butter on the top. It would be unfair to rubber to say that it tasted like rubber - it was actually worse. The consistency was revolting, and there was no taste. the eggs were fine, and the sausage was OK. My friend ordered scrambled eggs, bacon, and hash browns. They were, in sequence, OK, almost petrified, and greasy. Coffee was watery.
The bill was over $40!! We could have had a much better meal either at Burger King or at a diner in NYC or any other city.
Shame on the owner to present a place like this to the public. It should be closed, cleaned from top to bottom, and have a new or retrain staff on how to prepare...
Read moreThis is a VERY small family run place with eclectic decor inside, a small breakfast bar and a sprinkling of tabkes inside, and outdoor seating area that fits about 5 parties comfortably. The food is phenomenal and thd service is excellent. It takes a little time to get the food put but it's work the wait. Blueberry pancakes are the bomb. Bacon is thick sliced large, meaty center cut and always prepared perfectly. Fresh squeezed OJ, omelets, belgian waffles, home style hah brown and O'brien potatoes and excellent breakfast sausage. There are burgers and a mix of dishes Asian and American, I've had a bacon cheese burger here. and it was excellent. But I really only eat breakfast here as a rule, and recommend it highly if you have time for a leisurely breakfast. This is not a quick stop for a bite type of place. They take pride in their cooking and it shows. You won't be disappointed. 10-20 bucks per person makes it a bit more spendy than your average breakfast spot. But as far as breakfast places in Parkrose area it is top notch. They definitely don't serve Denny"s style food, and they don't have the speed of a Denny's or Shari's - they cater to people who are dining out, not just eating out. You will be pleased you tried this place and you're likely to become a regular if you live nearby. Everybody in the area knows about the excellent food...
