This is exactly what a neighborhood Mexican restaurant should be! An ambassador between countries! The staff were friendly and helpful. The pictures on the wall were a great help and the food was absolutely knockdown. Incredible! The chips were perfect, the guacamole amazing, and the shrimp Carnitas were to die for. This place is definitely on the go to list. it was colorful and quaint and I fell in love. So much better than the fancy hip expensive places downtown! I cannot say enough good things about it. This above, almost any other place in town, reminded me of the welcoming atmosphere I experienced during my time in Mexico.

A lost treasure in NE Portland. The food is amazing, very tasty and full of authentic flavor. Great options for all three meals in the day and.a great dessert selection on top of the Mexican food. They made the best street tacos I have had on this side of the boarder and the best salsa also. I love their hot sauces also particularly the green salsa. The outside is a bit off putting but once your inside you realize how great it is. The employees are super friendly and helpful. Looks like they are set up to host parties and other such activities with lots of open room and even a stage.

Only been once but it was yummy. Staff is very nice and recommends Salbute and tacos. I tried the $9.50 Huarache which was delicious. They’ve got a spicy habanero hot sauce to add to any meal that’s actually hot. Decent prices, five booths, tucked off of 82nd Ave. fresh chips for salsa! Small drink selection and use plastic cutlery that can break easily but those are the only critiques I’ve got if this place. Stop on by, I know I’ll be back.

I've been here about 5 or 6 times, and mostly just get tacos and tamales.

The tacos have been just great, and brings a lot of nostalgia for me. Sometimes they are on the dryer side, maybe twice out of the 6 times but I personally rather this than sopping wet like a place not far from here. I add the side guac and the red & green sauces.

The tamales appear to be wrapped in banana leaf and when coupled with their red chili hot sauce (over their tomato based sauce it comes with) they are unbelievably good. I only wish they are bigger, but enjoy the price of 2 dollars per tamale. ;)

All and all, this feels like home, a go to place once a week if I can. Excelente prices, good food, and wonderful staff. The guy up front always seems kind...

My family loves good burritos. And our best burritos tend to be found in little places that thanks to the internet we can now find. We were on the east side of Portland and needed lunch. And we lucked out! (And wish this spot were closer to home.) We had the carnet asada burrito, the veggie burrito, and two beans and cheese burritos. They were all top notch. High quality meat, tons of veggies and flavor in the veggie and all four were big and piping hot. If you love a good burrito and are looking for a gem of a taqueria, I would recommend Taqueria La Mestizas. It's a little spot, but the service was fast and quality, the employee was...
