Listen, I live nearby and used to get Spitz ALL the time. The fries are AMAZING and most of the staff are AWESOME. The drinks are also super yummy. But recently I've been forgoing it for several reasons:

  1. portion size has decreased SIGNIFICANTLY on the bowls. Normally when I'd order a bowl to go, it would touch the top of the lid. Now, it's disappointingly half-full (or pessimisticly, half-empty). It just doesn't really feel like it's worth the pricetag, especially not with the food carts around the corner. Except the fries. The fries are DEFINITELY worth the money.

  2. I'm still peeved about an order I made a few months ago, which was a GF order (which I have automatically saved in my online orders to make it so, and double checked the note was there). Since I'd never had an issue before, I grabbed my bag, and I walked all the way home. When I opened it, I realized that they had put bread on it (obviously not GF). Since the bread was smashed down and touching everything AND I am gluten intolerant, I called to say that there had been an issue with the order and the woman on the other phone blatantly did not believe me??? She had me walk all the way back with my order, acted like I was a huge inconvenience when she pulled my bowl out of the bag, and made me wait like a naughty child before FINALLY remaking the order. Like the Millennial I am, I ended up apologizing profusely for receiving an incorrect order which could have made me really sick. She, on the other hand, kind of just thrusted my re-made food to me.

Like, I had literally been going there about twice a week... There was no need to treat me like a thief or a Karen, OR make me show proof BEFORE remaking the order. It left SUCH a bad taste...

I am never coming here again. I ordered food with my roommate over the phone and they told us our order would be ready in 15 minutes. We made plans to meet someone 20 minutes later hoping to pick up our food and cruise on to our next destination. We got there 15 minutes later and the server said our order was “coming right up”. I then had to wait for 30 minutes and they kept telling me that it would “be out in a minute”. They looked like they had no idea what was going on. This really messed up our plans. If they would have been honest about how long it was really going to take we would’ve been able to go and come back. Regardless, we thought the food was good so my roommate went there with his friend a couple days later and when he came home he said the exact same thing happened again! Because he mentioned it was the same people working, I thought maybe they were new or something. A month later we tried again and ordered over the phone. The server said it was going to be 15 minutes but we rolled our eyes and waited 30 minutes just to be sure our food was going to be ready when we got there. When I showed up the woman working the bar (who I’m certain is the same person who took my order) said my order didn’t even exist. When I told her that this was the third time an ordering mishap happened she said “sorry, haha that’s crazy it’s happened so many times” as though it was a coincidence. I was about to put in my order again but I was so irritated that I just told her to cancel it. Never giving these people...

Matey had a wrap with gyros type of meat. Beef and lamb mix, he thought mostly beef, not GF, neither the wrap or the meat. He enjoyed it saying it was tasty. I had a salad, their new option. Ms Puddin was behind the bar this day and explained the menu. My selections were made with her help. I told her I try to eat gluten free. She was a great help.

I had the chicken on my salad. I liked the spices on the chicken. I'm sure it was high quality chicken breast, tasted grilled in house. All, in all, we were happy with our selections. We enjoyed a side of the waffle fries, sharing and ate them with the house aioli sauce that came with.

The tastes are rich and exciting, for sure different from what I have at home. The atmosphere was fun. The music this day was mid 20th Century, early Beetles days. We liked it. Tables outside beckon, but the cooler inside spoke louder and yet we were still able to experience some of the outdoor with the large open garage bay area type of building.

The bar was awesome to look at with its craft Sangria wine jars. Interesting vinyls and quaint items. Lunch time for us. We had house brewed ice tea which was most excellent. Since I think we'll return, I'm sure to order it again, served nicely in a pint glass, perfect on this warm summer day.

Not as enchanting on our second visit, he says there won't be a third. I see it as fun local spot perfect for younger set who drink spirits. Hopefully they don't...
