I live two blocks away and have always gladly supported the business here. We had a very bad experience today and will never be back.
My partner ordered a burrito without beans and onions and we also ordered two other burritos. The order that we got - the burrito that was ordered without the ingredients above had beans and onions for sure in it. Clearly seen after the first bite.
I sent my son back to get the order corrected. He came home and told me that they said it has no beans in it. It was five minutes before closing and I had to rush over and tell them that it did have beans. They said the wrapper saying it didn't have those ingredients must have been on the wrong burrito. Except, all three of the burritos had beans, so that's not true. I asked why they told my son it didn't have beans after he brought it back. The young man at the counter said it's my son's fault for not handing them the burrito. I told him they could have asked to see it. Instead they just told him he was wrong without further clarifying.
They made the burrito again and gave it to me. I brought it home - it has ALL the ingredients we asked not to have in it. Beans, onions, the whole deal.
It's really upsetting to be treated like this by a local business. As I explained to the staff, my partner has a disability that affects their mobility, which makes it difficult for them to continually return to get the order corrected, which is another reason why it's so frustrating for my son to be ignored when he returned with the order. To have them make it wrong AGAIN - there is no way that was...
Read moreMy partner and I have lived across the street for over a year now and passed this place a million times-- we regret not coming here sooner because the food was phenomenal!! Fantastic, authentic Mexican food. We got the asada and barbacoa burritos and both were stuffed with flavorful and high-quality ingredients. They were massive and roughly the size of newborns! The meat was so tender and delicious, but the tortillas actually stole the show and were the best I've ever had. To make it even better, the prices can't be beat. This spot could quite possibly be best, most authentic, and most affordable Mexican food in Portland. But of course, further research is required (in the form of getting tacos next time) before making such a bold statement. The only thing I wish was that they'd extend their hours; I know us nine-to-five folk would be there all the time if they weren't closed whenever we are off work and ready to eat! Regardless, I can't wait to try their tacos next time we have another...

Carne asada burrito- meat was kinda gristly and a little gamey tasting. Burrito was way hot temp wise for some reason. Tortilla was good, rice and beans were fine if a little undersalted. Pretty disappointed in the salsas as well. Partially i’m just not a fan of avocado salsa, I thought I was grabbing jalapeño or tomatillo. The red chile de arbol salsa tasted like spicy water. Not sure what’s going on there.
Horchata was fine, and an okay price. Burrito was disappointing for essentially $15 with credit card.
I’ve had better, I’ve had worse burritos. I’ll just go to Azteca next time and get free...
