Taj Indian Cuisine USA — Restaurant in Portland

The guy is SOO rude! I’ve been here twice and never again. The first time he refused to sell me food. I had asked for 3 sides of naan only. Then I was about to add a curry when he tells me “I won’t do the naan for you.” I ask why. He says “It’s not worth it.” Ummm what? It’s not worth it to make me food at a food cart. That’s $9 for three orders the chicken pakora is $6.99. Would you make me that or no? Frickin weird and rude. I figure he was having a bad day, and I’d come back again to have a different experience. I frequent these food carts a lot so it’s nice to go to all of them. The second time he was better but wouldn’t answer my questions about which ones had dairy very well (we have people with dairy intolerance) and then when I picked it back up he said it was a difficult order. Again, it’s food you make at your food cart (we didn’t order anything not on the menu or with any substitutions.) He just seems grumpy and has issues with women (my dad went there and said he was pleasant to him.) Ultimately the food was just so so. I’ve had much better Indian food a few blocks away....

Taj Indian Cuisine is truly outstanding. My husband and I had a hankering for Indian food a few nights ago and decided to give Taj a shot based on its solid reviews. We were blown away! Every single dish we had was incredible - high quality ingredients, excellently balanced flavor and spice, and all clearly made with great care and attention. Our meal was so good that we returned two nights later to try out some of their other offerings, and once again we were thoroughly impressed! This is easily one of Portland's very best Indian food spots, in addition to being a serious bargain for the quality and portions of the dishes they serve. This is a hard no. I ordered two very staples and simple parts of any Indian menu. Naan and raihta . Both garbage. I always want to like but damn they made the simplest parts terrible The raihta you could drink with a straw and also flavorless. The naan , well seemingly made to order again the garlic naan was devoid of flavor. It's a cart. expect garbage. I also got a burger from unionburger and it was worst burger I've ever had in my life. Cart pods need to stop If you have no idea how to cook food please don't waste your entire life savings to start a business when you cannot make food.
