Eminently friendly couple serving up some fresh, tasty, crispy fried halibut and chips. My wife and I split a 4-piece which, at $40 a basket, we hoped would be enough to fill us up. Thankfully, the halibut pieces were not only massive, they were also tender, flaky, juicy and piping-hot! Among the best in the city, if you ask me!
Additionally, the Piedmont Station food cart pod is probably the most aesthetic in Portland, and has a solid variety of dining options. Although we initially came here to try another cart, which was closed outside of their posted operating hours, their loss is Halibut's gain (and ours)! We'll definitely be back!Eminently friendly couple serving up some fresh, tasty, crispy fried halibut and chips. Read moreFirst visit was revealing. 15 minutes standing in line behind people who know more than we did at the time. When we were finally at the order window, ready to order, they were so busy packaging food to go for phone ahead customers we were told it was going to be "at least 15 minutes before I can get to you. " so we stepped out of the way to let people in line behind us pick up phoned in orders. We felt ignored and left.
One week later, we decided to try again. At 2 o'clock I phoned ahead for a 5 pm pick up. Friendly service both visits. Cod & fries, lemon, tartar and cocktail sauce $14. Cole slaw $3. Can original coke $1.50.
The fish, not greasy. (2) 3oz flaky filets. Nothing special about the batter. Fries are processed flash frozen restaurant supply stock. Tarter sauce is bland. Cocktail sauce should come with a warning label. IMO 95% Wasabi, 5% ketchup is felonious. I prefer a creamy cole slaw and did not like the over-priced vinegar recipe version they serve.
I feel fortunate to have found a kitchen that provides seafood entrees during this global pandemic and it's impact upon the...
Read moreThis is tucked away in a food truck park in Portland. Can be a little sketchy, but we parked across the street and walked around.
The halibut is a must try, but they are weighed and we got 2 pieces which one was more of a nugget. It’s a little pricey, but totally worth it.
They give you a buzzer so as long as you stay in the vicinity, you’ll be able to know when your food is done. My husband and I walked around, got our food and went to the car. We realized they didn’t give us our coconut prawn (store bought). When my husband went back the lady who showed up after we had already ordered our food was really rude to him. Complaining about every little thing and asking why the other gentleman had to give us the food as if we didn’t pay for it. She definitely treated him as if he was just another person looking to get free food. I will note that the gentleman who took our order was personable and very informative.
For this reason, we probably would go back, but if the lady is there,...
