Delicious! Just happened to find this place while we were looking for a quick snack and was so impressed I had to leave a review. I'm obsessed with momo dumplings, especially momo soup, I have a running list of all the Napali/Tibetan/Himalayan food in the portland area but this one escaped me somehow. I ordered Veggie Jhol Momo and a hot Chai Tea, my partner order the Pork Sekuwa skewers and Hibiscus Lemonade. Absolute comfort food! Lots of vegetarian/vegan options and very reasonably priced, the fusion menu offers a good variety that still all pairs well together. Some of the best momos I've had, and I have not seen them offered in this kind of a soup. Super flavorful, the broth was creamy and the hot sauce was the perfect amount of heat. The tea was that perfect, spicy authentic style chai. My partner talked about the Pork Sekuwa for days, he had just had some disappointing carnitas for lunch so he was thrilled by how well seasoned and tender it was. He said (as a cook himself) "it practically melted in your mouth, it takes a lot of skill to get that melt-in-your mouth texture and that amount of flavor with pork, I actually didn't believe it was pork at first." It's a small, casual establishment so I was pleasantly surprised that the food was not only brought to our table, but they also introduced the dishes like at a fine dining restaurant! It makes what might have been an overlooked cup of veggies on the side feel like a special experience when you know it's a traditional daikon and carrot salad with a spiced sesame dressing. We also admired their menu and display screens, the graphic design was really well done and everything was easy to read, and clearly described with high quality pictures so it made choosing what we wanted to order quick and easy! We were looking for somewhere affordable and fast to grab a small bite, and it was all that, but the food and hospitality far exceeded our...
Read moreI ate here and had to come back two days later with my girlfriend because I just couldn't stop thinking about it. I have only had a few bahn mi a few times and wasn't really a fan but this place changed my mind. I had the honey sriracha chicken the first time and then the same thing with a some sweet chili added in as well just to see if they would do it and they did! (I gave an extra tip for it)
I ordered the chili momos as well and was very surprised that it actually had quite a kick to it. Enough that I had to take a little break to cool my mouth off some. My girlfriend got the teriyaki chicken and it was really good as well. Not overly sweet and the chicken was really tender. Both times I went in they offered a small complimentary cup of chai and the folks taking my order were very friendly and personable. I think this is a family run joint because the lady at the counter was calling to her brother and her mother I think as well. All in all I would highly recommend giving this spot a try. My only complaint is that I didn't see that they had shrimp as an offer until I had already ordered the second time but that's entirely my fault for not...
Read moreWe stopped in really close to closing time accidentally. But the person who was operating the counter was wonderful. He seemed genuinely happy to see us. He asked us if it was our first time, and since it was, immediately offered us recommendations and explained things about the menu. We got the brisket killer combo and it was so good. The bread was soft with just the right crunch on the crust. The meat was juicy and really flavorful. It was one of the best Bahn mi sandwich's I've eaten. The small shrimp egg rolls were crunchy on the outside and soft inside with really good flavor. The dipping sauce was nice, and compliments the rolls well. He kept insisting we give the egg rolls a try and i am so glad he did! They were excellent.
TL;DR The service was excellent. Genuinely excited, friendly, and helpful. The food was really flavorful and checked all the boxes I hoped it would. I recommend the brisket, and absolutely try the small shrimp rolls! Even if shrimp isn't usually for you, these might...
