I've driven by here several times since they opened and always thought it would be a good place to try, so after picking my kid up from school at nearby Earl Boyles, I did just that. Now, I'm hardly a vegan, but I do enjoy some of the various meat substitutes that are out there, so I went with the Garbage Burrito (flour tortilla stuffed with Soycurls, soyrizo, tofu, beans, rice, red & green salsa, onion & cilantro.) I also got a side of chips and salsa, and I picked up some red (molcajete) and green salsa from the salsa bar. The burrito itself was great and will probably be my go-to when we eat here. Everything just blended together perfectly. Even though I associate chorizo (or soyrizo in this case) with breakfast burritos, it really worked well with everything else. The chips were obviously hand made, but it was the salsa that really blew me away. It was very thin which I REALLY don't like, but the taste/texture was akin to a broth. It was so good. It has this deep richness that was super yummy. My only (minor) complaint is no pico de gallo at the salsa bar, but there were enough other good options, that didn't bother me too much. I'm really looking forward to going back and trying the Fajitas, Chilaquiles and Gorditas, among...
Read moreWe have been long time fans of los gorditos and eaten many times from the 2 division locations and previously the cart. We have come to this location about 3 times now because it is closer and more convenient with available parking, however the quality and taste don't live up to the experience from the other locations.
The sauces do not taste the same/as good, and food also doesn't have the good seasoning and flavor I've come to know from their food. The last time I ordered here, my chicken quesadilla had a chicken bone in it. We got a tub of the signature garlic orange sauce and it tasted off. It also affected the taste of the rice which I believe is cooked with it and had the same off/bad taste.
I'm reluctant to come back to this particular location after this, and will just stick to the other spots which haven't let us down. Prices are reasonable, quick & helpful service, but I just hope they can one day get this spot running and tasting...
Read moreReally wanted to like this place as it is Latinx owned, and even left a generous tip before trying the food because we like to support small businesses but we were so disappointed.
The beef/asada tacos was hard old meat, no flavor at all. The cow tongue was soft but so bland. The mild salsa didn’t even help either. We were so hungry and left so disappointed. We own a restaurant in the Midwest that makes Latin and Mexican food, and we know how hard it is to break into the food industry, so I’m not giving lower stars because I do hope they can take this as a constructive criticism.
We saw so many positive reviews, so I don’t understand why our food didn’t meet the standards of the other reviews. I hope they speak to their staff and fix...
