Stopped by here today for a Sunday breakfast, TwentySix Cafe is great! They’re currently set up as patio seating only and have a really nice set up in front of the cafe that spans a few storefronts. A lot of effort has clearly been put into the seating area, complete with varied table options and sections that offer different amounts of coverage from the sun. The patio is also covered, making this a great place to stop by rain or shine. We ordered through the doorway of the cafe (which is now operating as the counter) where a nice assortment of baked goods were on display. The cafe was busy but not overwhelmingly so, creating a lively but relaxed atmosphere- this is clearly a well loved spot in the neighborhood. We ordered some bagels (one with Lox and the other just cream cheese) and iced coffees. The bagel selection was solid and the bagels themselves were a great mix of crunch exterior and soft, chewy interior. The bagels were also very well stuffed (sometimes cafes can really skimp on the fillings, which is not the case at TwentySix Cafe) and the coffees were also very tasty. We were served by Naomi who was very friendly and helpful; as more customers lined up and placed orders she had the task of juggling taking orders and passing out the finished food- Naomi did this incredibly efficiently and made it look quite easy. I would definitely suggest this spot to anyone coming through the neighbourhood. While you’re here make sure to walk by the wishing tree (a block north and on the opposite side of the street to the cafe) and continue on to the nearby Irving Park- a lovely way to spend a...

This place is great. Between the good coffee, the friendly vibe, and the excellent food, it's hard not to want to go here all the time. I have 15 coffee shops within walking distance (because: Portland) and this place usually wins out.

The hazelnut latte is especially good because instead of the standard pump bottle flavor, they make their own hazelnut paste. The hazelnut tastes 'real' because it is and that always hits real nice. Their donuts come from Delicious Donuts which are the best in town. I can't imagine a better donut than their blueberry cake donut. The Savory Toast is a beautifully simple lunch at a great price.

The staff is always friendly and many have been around for some time. For me that's always a great indicator of a good business. As with a lot of other coffee shops, there is a rotating selection of local art on the walls but unlike a lot of other coffee shops, the art is generally very good. Whoever is curating it is doing a good job.

The interior is pleasantly and sparsely lit and has the vibe of an old Victorian parlour. The covered outdoor seating in out front is comfy and because they're not on a major street, it's pleasantly quiet and you don't have to worry about breathing exhaust.

Definitely one of my favorite places to be...

This has become one of my favorite coffee shops in the neighborhood. The staff is super friendly and the coffee is next level.

I felt the need to subtract a star based on something I observed while waiting on my coffee today.

A man (I believe Jeff is his name) was smoking on the patio and it was irritating everyone. A very nice lady that I have seen there before asked him nicely to stop smoking and he started screaming profanities at her. I happened to be inside when she came in to complain to the staff.

I'm not sure what their protocol is in situations like this, and it's possible that they did not have a staff member that felt safe enough to confront the man, but it did seem like they were not overly concerned about what that lady had just went through.

She unfortunately mentioned to us that she won't be returning to the shop. I'd hate to see an unfriendly patron replace a nice one who was friendly with everyone.

Everything about this shop is great. This review is based on a one time experience and is not intended to tarnish the cafe in any way. I think it is the responsibility of the patrons of neighborhood spots like this to speak up when the reputation of a business could be put at risk by 1 or 2 bad apples.

Hope this...

i enjoyed this place very much. my parents and i visited this cafe on a wednesday morning. it was very calm and quaint. there were a lot of locals that stopped by and made easy conversation with the baristas. this coffee shop was tucked in a neighborhood area of portland. it wasn’t too busy, but also not desolate. i ordered a plain 12oz latte. the foam on top was super creamy and smooth. very delightful. then for breakfast, i ordered a savory toast. it was an inch thick of dark whole wheat bread, with avocado spread and a sliced hard boiled egg on top. arugula, spicy peppers, and an oily dressing was garnished on top as well. it was very good, although a bit messy. i would have liked it better without the oil, but nonetheless i loved the unique flavor of the peppers. it brought a great zing to it. my mom got a pumpkin spiced latte and a bagel sandwich. i tried her latte and the pumpkin flavor was not too strong. she really enjoyed it, but i would have liked more spice. my mom said that the bagels tasted chewy and homemade too.

I was a visitor to Portland, and did think that there was much beauty and many interesting restaurants. I also noticed that everyone gave seemingly automatic 5 star ratings to any restaurant that was eclectic, and a bit "hole-in-the-wall". OK, I don't do that. Sitting on a rough wooden outdoor table with wooden benches automatically disqualifies that 5 star rating. The food was good, service was fine. But I won't seek out this cafe the next time I'm in Portland. 5 stars should be reserved for unique, great dining, comfortable restaurants. There is no 3.5 rating available, so I gave thus restaurant 4 stars.
