WOW! What a surprise! Walking by, it doesn’t look like much; but, it over performs across the board.
The cocktails were fantastic - I had the Little Black Dress and wanted to have ten more. And the wine? A small selection; yet, each one we tried was wonderful. I’ve had much poorer wines at higher priced restaurants with more robust (as in giant) wine lists.
Oh, right, we went there to eat.
Well, there were four of us and we had the Seasonal Starter, House-Made Focaccia, Fennel Roasted Organic Carrots, and a sausage pizza. All were outstanding and even I, the avowed anti-vegetable person, fell in love with the carrots. The pizza had a perfectly crispy crust that held up to the delicious toppings.
There are many nice places to dine in Portland; but, on my subsequent visits, I will definitely grab a picnic table outside, load it with great food and drink, and totally enjoy this dining experience tucked away in a quiet neighborhood.
And the staff? Personable, funny, and wonderful in...
Read moreThe food was absolutely flavorful and extremely fairly priced. We wanted to try everything on the menu. We settled for the homemade pasta special, roasted carrots, and the "to die for" sausage pizza. Any time I see freshly made pasta, I m in. The creamy sauce with the richness from the cheese and meats, served in a perfect portion, was delightful. The roasted carrots with fennel was quite unique with the right amount of tang and tenderness and the portion was a good size to share. But, the roasted garlic cloves on the pizza were what made it so amazing. Big fans of roasted garlic here. The crust was chewy and sauce and sausage was nicly spiced and did not overwhelm the tastebuds. We found two seats at the bar upon arriving on a rainy evening. The place was small but filled with such warmth, and the aroma from the kitchen was all the welcome we needed. The staff and patrons were very friendly, and we could not have asked for a...
Read moreThe boyfriend and I were visiting Portland last month from Las Vegas and decided to pay the "Wishing Tree" a visit. Little did we know that this awesome place was situated between a neighborhood just 5 minutes away! Truly a rare find for us. We only had their drinks. We tried their Villa Wolf Pinot Noir Rosé and the Poema Cava (Sparkling) Spain which were refreshing. After the third round, we noticed we were there for about 2 and a half hours! Not once were we pressured to get food and the owner was outstanding, especially seeing that he was running around helping out his staff. We sat outside in one of the bar tables and enjoyed watching the customers' dogs! Anyways, this was a memorable experience for...
