Update 2(Jul '25): Tried the candy cane conundrum as a couple, and although we could not finish it in time, it was an absolute blast. The room design is stellar with lots of fun elements for everyone. There were lots of surprises in the design elements of the room and it can become a bit challenging for 2 adults to go back and forth between rooms, but with 3 or more players this room should be easily solvable within the allotted time. The puzzles themselves were not too difficult on an individual basis, but we lost our marbles by the final section. We also lost track of time by the end of it. The number of puzzles is apropos for the room and with 3-4 players or more it can be solved in very good times while having a sledload of fun.
I loved the Elf theme, the care taken in all the room and puzzle elements, the layout surprise at the final section which can bring out the kid in anyone. This is a great room for kids, and for adults who would want to rediscover the kid within themselves. There were so many puzzles for everyone to try that one would never get bored. In larger groups one can solve multiple puzzles in parallel at all times. 2-3 groups of puzzlers can solve simultaneously in most parts of this room.
I would love to come back and try American Revolution next time. So far, really really pleased with both the Game of Stones and Candy Cane Conundrum rooms. Each room is so unique and stands out on its own, with its unique flavor. Kudos to the room designers and the moderators who enable a very smooth gameplay experience.
Update 1 (May '25) : Visited the Portland location for the first time. Tried the Game of Stones room with a few friends. Mitchel was a great host, very funny and helpful.
Had a great time figuring out the room. The puzzles were well thought out and placed. There were multiple rooms and some puzzles were connected across rooms. The mechanism of a particular puzzle was absolutely fascinating. Another puzzle had a very good surprise reveal after it was solved. There weren't any red herrings that i noticed. There were many puzzles that were solvable in parallel, so all of us could have fun solving simultaneously.
For 5 of us, this room was pretty enjoyable and it was completed within time, with little help. This should be solvable by lesser number of players as well.
Had a stupendous time and would love to visit again and try out all the other rooms in both their locations.
P.S: The host always reminds you that restrooms are available, before one...
Read moreI came here with coworkers on a Thursday afternoon for a team building event. We met with Declan and he explained the rules for the room (no food/drink, you could take your phones/electronics into the room but would not need to use them to solve any puzzles, and that everything in the room that was meant to be looked at/found/opened would do so easily, there would be no need to lift ceiling tiles or pull up the carpet, etc.). We were also told that we were allowed to ask for as many hints as we wanted, but we all had to agree that we needed one first.
The theme of our room was an arcade/video games. While we were playing, a countdown timer was showing on a screen and video game music was playing that would slowly get faster/more intense as the time got closer to running out. But it wasn't loud enough or intense to really cause a lot of stress. I haven't done an escape room before, so I wasn't 100% sure what to expect (based on the TV shows that I've seen them in, a part of me expected that the person staffing our event would fall asleep or just not be paying attention and we'd get trapped in there, which is why I was glad we could keep our phones!) but Declan was on top of it. At one point one of our team members accidentally pulled something off the wall that wasn't supposed to be pulled off and revealed some kind of wiring; Declan's voice immediately came over the speakers to explain that that actually wasn't a part of the puzzle, and redirected our attention (since we were clearly struggling with one of the clues). The two other hints that we ended up asking for were provided immediately, there was no hesitation or waiting once we all agreed and then one person called out to ask for it.
It really was a lot of fun, with different puzzles in the room presenting different challenges, and for our team it allowed us all to leverage our different strengths and talents to successfully make our way out of the room! I also found it interesting that we were asked what we thought of a few of the individual puzzles because they had just been added to the room - the team here obviously keeps working to keep...
Read moreI honestly can't praise Candy Cane Conundrum enough. It is an absolute Christmas blast that makes you feel like a kid again. My wife and I went into the room with low expectations (holiday rooms are usually thrown together), and we were met with the most fun room we've ever done. The puzzles are on the easier side, but that's not the point. The story is engaging, there is a huge collection of fun and exciting puzzles, the effects are shockingly impressive, the set design is perfect, the room(s) feel like a Christmas playground, and there are so many surprises that made us cheer. Jessica was an amazing game master. We have done nearly all of Portland Escape Rooms experiences (at both locations), and this is easily the best. This is unquestionably the best Christmas room, and one of the best rooms overall in Portland. If you want to feel the Christmas Spirit, do this room now. Absolutely an...
