Uncle Vinny's Pizza & BBQ — Restaurant in Portland

Updating my review as of 4/4/2024..

Very disappointed in the food after the change in ownership.

The pizza used to be one of my FAVORITE things on the menu. Just simple, yummy pizza. Nothing fancy. Well cooked crust, thick cheese and savory sauce.

Now, the crust tastes like cardboard and the cheese and toppings slide off every time because it's so thin. I have had two different pizza's now and tried to give it a chance both times and both times I've not been able to eat it. This last time, the pepperoni's were cut into weird half slices and were sour tasting. The pepperoni's used to be whole and crispy before.

The menu is also cheap and cheesy. Random photos of food taken off Google just copy and pasted onto the menu. It's not even their actual food. Like the type of images you'd find in an Applebees menu. They also recently promoted their menu on Facebook, but used OLD images from the prior owners.

If the pizza is any indication of how the food is now being made, I am going to avoid trying another of my other old favorites. Very sad that such a long time local spot has changed for the worse.

OLD REVIEW: My husband and I have been here a handful of times and have always left satisfied. The Uncle Vinny’s turkey sandwich is one of the best I’ve ever had. It’s filling and fresh!

My husband usually gets the mini calzone which is big enough for two to share.

The beer selection is smaller than most bars, so be aware of that.

The atmosphere can be a little rougher because of the area, but never too bad. The service is lovely too.

I work for Postmates and wanted to order for the customer. I walked in and hadn't been in there before so just walked up to the bar. The lady snapped at me and asked what i was doing. To which I said, I need to place an order for Postmates. She said "go around" (I didn't realize there was a little area to order at) once I got up there I waited about 10 minutes. Then she came up and asked "so what are you here for?" I said I need to place an order for Postmates. Then she said "ugh it's going to be a while, you're about 10 minutes late" I had just gotten there and told her I needed to place an order, don't see how I was late. Then she told me to have a seat because I was making her "nervous" I wasn't hovering or anything and I was being pretty damn nice given how she was treating me... (I work at a pizza place myself and know that it does get stressful sometimes, but still no excuse) I waited another 10 minutes for her to come back and take my order but I didn't want to keep the customer waiting because it had already been so long. I've never been here to eat personally, and I probably never will. You guys shouldn't be on Postmates, doordash, etc if you can't accept the orders or at least treat people with respect. Side note: the lady was being EXTREMELY polite to other customers that were dining in. It was an older, shorter woman with glasses and she was the only person I saw at the time I went in there around 6:30pm. I really hope that...

So I've been going to this place for some time now and has been my go to for calmness until now.since we are stuck at home with covid I decided to order in through Postmates. And I will tell you it was a bad experience. I ordered my Calpine the way I always do. It was notwhat I ordered not only did it not have the topings I ordered but it was burnt on the outside and raw in the middle. I rarely give reviews but in this case I am so disappointed that I had to share . My wife ordered the lasagna it was horrible. As well as the fettuccine. So I guess if you plan on placing a order don't expect much. I spent over $60.00 and was nothing but disappointed. I guess I will need to find a new go to place. Since I will not be going...
