The Oval Office must be my absolute favorite local restaurant. While many would ignore the oddly placed building due to its small size, I recommend you give them every chance they deserve. The sister restaurant of The White House Grill (which, I strongly dislike, mind you) is just absolutely fantastic. Now, I can’t say I’ve always had the most stellar service. Waitresses are scattered, the building is small and incredibly loud (like, you’ll be yelling across the table to speak to your date), seating is scarce indoors, you’re either seated in a spot that’s boiling hot or freezing cold (ALWAYS CHOOSE THE PATIO IF POSSIBLE). Minor annoyances aside, you came here for the food. So, don’t mind the kitchen, as it is the tiniest I’ve ever seen, because they know how to deliver when it comes to delicious meals. Happy hour is where the deals are at. When we go with friends, we order a handful of items from the Happy Hour menu and share with the entire table. They definitely don’t skip on portions! My personal favorites have to be the Lamb Burgers, Indian Pizza, Curried Mussels, and the Gorgonzola Cheese Fries. Stay about a thousand miles away from the Onion Rings, that’s the only item on the menu I’ve tried and absolutely hated. They’re soggy, bland, and sad. Not worth it, so don’t try them. When it comes to actual entres, my go-to is the Spinach Salad with Blackened Salmon… it’s… heaven. Also the Peppercorn Steak will be the best you’ve ever had in your life, and the Dijon Chicken is mouth watering. The Martini’s are cleverly named and mostly politically based. They are not shy about making these drinks strong!!! You won’t be hurting for alcohol when you leave. Overall, I give the OO a 5/5 and will always. Even on a bad day, they are still worth visiting, as your stomach will leave happy.

Tried the OO last night (a cold, snowy, dark Tuesday) for the first time since the remodel. Right out of the gate the first thing we noticed was the place was quite busy at around 6:00 p.m. and extremely loud. The interior design doesn't offer for any barriers between tables and we were sitting within two feet of the table next to us. The normal restaurant sounds of table conversation and food preparation added up to quite a noisy din. The service was prompt and friendly but when our food came we noted some things that were a distraction to completely enjoying our meal. The Thai seafood soup was excellent overall but for some reason the shrimp tails were left on the shrimp. This requires the customer to reach in with their fingers and either pull or cut the tails off. This should be done in the kitchen prep, not by the customer. The other entree we had was the chicken sandwich and while the flavors were good the brioche bun was quite dry and had a toasted appearance and taste. Certainly not the way you want brioche served as it is known primarily for it's sweetness and soft texture. The restaurant has real potential and we've been longtime customers before the remodel. Small attention to detail items noted above would make a huge difference. Not sure if the noise level can come down just based on the acoustics and small size of the building. Dine here with that element in mind.

I love the food at the Oval Office, but have had issues twice now with picking up to-go orders. The first time was about a week ago and items were not in the order which we did not know were missing until we got home and opened up the to-go bag. On the plus side, the server was super apologetic and did everything she could to make it right. The second time this happened was today and truthfully we were a bit frustrated. Again 😭. So we went back and this time we did not have a good experience with the sever. She was short, did not try to make it right outside of a quick sorry, and a hand off of the food that was missed. Because this has now happened twice in a row and because we did not feel attempts were made to make it right (we do not live right around the corner so it’s not a quick trip to return to the restaurant), I felt a review to warn folks to check the bag if ordering to-go before you leave the restaurant.

If I could do zero starts I would!!! I do not recommend!!! Kerstin has horrible customer service skills.

Went there on a Friday night for the beginning of my sister in laws Bachelorette festivities. There was 5 of us total. We had a reservation for 630pm. I was the last to join the group at 645pm. When i joined my group they had just gotten served their drinks. I wasn't asked if I would like a drink or even if I needed a few moments to look at the menu. At 7pm our waiter came over and asked if I would like a drink. I ordered a drink and our group ordered food. At 715. I had still not received a drink and the rest of my group was in need of their second drink. The bride of the group walked over and asked our waiter when my first drink would be ready and that we would like a second drink for the rest of the group. She had the nerve to argue and say it had only been 10 minutes. After the bride came back to the table our waiter Kerstin. Shortly followed and had told us it would be 15 minutes for drinks mind you I had be there for 30+ minutes without receiving a drink. 725-730 my drink is served as well as our appetizers and salads. And got our bread... 745 the second round of drinks is served. 8pm the entrees that only three of us ordered were served. 815 we went up and asked our serve if we could get Togo boxes and the checks. She brings one check... we asked her if we could split what we all ordered and one of us would cover the bride. Our server Kerstin said I can put it as many card as needed and walked away... we were already pissed with the lack of customer service skills. So we decide to get up and find follow our server she asks us to write down our card numbers and write down the totals for what we want to pay.. she then walks away again. So we asked if someone else like Manager or server could run our cards they said no so at this point I am pissed and ask for a Manager three times finally the bartender supposedly the manager says what do you need. Mind you we are standing by the door while all this is going on because we just want to leave. So he knows what is our issue is. I tell him get our server or do it your self and cash out our bill. He asks the other bartender to get our server and she eventually come over and asks us what we need. I say split out check eventually between 4 cards so we can leave. She asked so like how much for each. I said what ever is evenly like 30ish dollars each. She then runs the cards and hands the bride a gift card not stating what amount is on there or anything and there is no number to call or receipt saying the total on the card.

This was my first and last time I will go there. I have experience in food management and food service in general so I know it can be busy. But don't ignore you table or walk away and if service is backed up let us know it will be longer then expected. Also when we ask to split checks don't ask for our card numbers to be written down, I will not give you my card information on a piece of paper... If you are the manager you should have fixed the problem before it...

To start i would like to compliment the host for her leadership and attentiveness. She sat us party of 7 with great urgency showing she cared. The food was delicious as well except for the lackluster fries and defrosted bread basket.

We started off the night with an older short skinny lady waitress. Never mentioned her name although I didn't formally introduce myself and ask her name she nether took the opportunity to be personable. Which I used to work at restaurants and it is a sign of courtesy for the server to formally introduce themselves. It starts the experience as a personable one which most people want going to a bistro with 20 to 30 dollar per plate dinner.

She brought waters which was quite refreshing due to the hot weather outside. Then took our drink order. I asked her what's the sweetest martini and she gave me her suggestion then I said hmmmm. My wife asked for a lemon Huckleberry martini. Next people ordered drinks then she left. She came back with 2 martinis for me and my wife. As she was walking behind my wife she didn't say the known restaurant lingo behind you. Working for 5 years at 3 different restaurants this is what anybody with comon sense and care would say. Then my wife moved herself back in her chair and bumped the tray. The top of the martini spilled all over the table. She then puts the remaining martini down on the table. Keep in mind the side of the table is completely soaked with sticky martini drink. My menu is drenched. She left and came back with a rag and wiped 70% of it and left. I had to ask her to come back and finish cleaning it. Not once did she say sorry. Mind you we are there to spend money and even if she didn't mean it to say it shows courtesy. I then mention to her I didn't order a martini only my wife did. I ask her are you going to take it back to get topped up? She says yes then leaves with the 2 martinis she walked up with. Then comes back a minute later with the exact same glass that left and says she had some added. Witch was a bold face LIE. No problem im not gonna send it back so I still took it even though I shouldn't of.

We got bread with our drinks the bread with room temperature like it just defrosted and sat out for a bit. 0 effort of care on her part. The butter 🧈 packet that came with the piece wasn't even melting on the bread.

Got our food and it just didn't seem like it was as good as last time. I'd guess it wasn't cooked to order but it was still delicious just not as good as last time. Before we got our food I had to ask my server for silverware roll ups with the linen napkins. Which again was sloppy on her part.

Then we got our check and what do you know she left both martinis on the bill when we sent 1 back. Again not accidental she didn't work as if she cared 1 bit. She took off the second one after having to be asked. Hurts to say im gonna take a break for a bit...

On a Saturday night out with my family... We chose this place based on reviews mostly and was very very disappointed! Idk how this place ever gets good reviews or maybe it was my skin color you be the judge... After being told there was a20 minute wait inside but immediate seating on the patio we choose the latter.. We stood waiting while the water half cleaned the table from the previous customers then he just walked away. So we say waiting for 40 minutes until someone came and bright us... Nothing.. We still don't have napkins or silverware or even water.. Finally the waitress comes and asks if we have been helped and we said no and told her we don't have anything and haven't had a chance to order anything.. So she took our other for a Coke a martini and a kid orange juice.. She came back with orange juice and Coke... Then asked for our order..I ordered the gangster a steak covered in gargonzola cheese sauce and mushrooms.. (no mention of w what the side dishes are)? Mom orders the chicken ravioli and Mac n cheese for Kimbo.. She still hasn't gotten the martini, napkins or silverware. The so called heater keeps shutting off cuz there's multiple extension cords plugged into a power strip. She comes back with some bread and nuts with cream cheese and spicy peaches?... She asked if everything was ok..I tell her still no martini napkins or silverware.. She says ok and takes off coming back with our salads and some bread with spread and the martini.. Still no silverware or napkins this takes another 25 mins. Then just as we start eating our salads another server comes back with our food that looks like it's been sitting for a long time. The sauce had no flavor of gorgonzola cheese and had no flavor in the steak at all but as a side I was given a potato breaded ball with zucchini and squash extremely overcooked and mushy. Two things I hate! But my choices were potatoes or Mac n cheese? Who has Mac n cheese as a side dish with a steak? And it's not Mac n cheese is fettuccine Alfredo. And the potato thing was real good with no flavor.. These should be mentioned on the menu or be explained upon ordering! I would never order those as a side dish if I would have known what they were. Plus there was seafood in the ravioli? You can't mix chicken and seafood in a ravioli... It's one or the other! We never saw the initial waiter the rest of the night. We told the server we didn't want any of it and no we don't want a substitute. I would never eat here again! We ended up at Popeyes! 2 and a half hours after we were seated! Seriously bad service and bad food. As an high end restaurant you can't be bad at both!...
