Moby Dick House of Kabob — Restaurant in Potomac

I was overjoyed when Moby Dick opened in Great Falls. It's more convenient than my frequent trips to the fabled Shamshiry, which remains the very best for this type of food. On my first visit to this Moby Dick they tried to accommodate my requests, were responsive and flexible. I asked them to modify some things and add some new items, easy to do. On the second visit the proprietor personally saw to my order, was very friendly and pleasant. Although when I brought the order home and opened the kubideh, which I had requested very well done, I found that the tops of the kubideh were well done, turned them over, and the undersides were almost uncooked. Were they trying to fool me?

On the third and final visit, the "server" at the desk spoke almost no English at all. I couldn't untangle his mumbling and he said he didn't understand me (my English and pronunciation is perfect). He tried to sell me some things I didn't want. This went on for a while. Finally I started giving him my order, along with the usual easy modifications. He nodded in acceptance, but I knew he didn't understand. It became crystal clear that if I went ahead with this order and brought it home they would get it wrong. Finally he barked in an accusing tone "WHAT YOU WANT?" Like I'm causing trouble.

At this point I said Just cancel the order and left.

I don't see why I should have to wrestle with a combative non-English-speaking "server." Dining is supposed to be pleasant and relaxing and this stressed me out. I'm not going back there. So it's back to Shamshiry. They never...

Absolutely Disgusting Experience, Avoid This Place!!! (Look at the pictures!!) I ordered 3 koobideh kabobs and was completely horrified when I opened the container. All three kabobs were covered in black grime and filth not just regular char marks from grilling, but an actual thick layer of black residue that looked like they had been dropped into ash or a dirty grill, then sent out without any care or concern for hygiene. It was obvious that the food had either fallen into the charcoal or onto a filthy grill surface. Any decent kitchen would have immediately tossed these and remade the order but instead, they thought it was okay to serve this to a paying customer. That’s just completely unacceptable. I don’t know how this place is still operating with this level of cleanliness and disregard for food safety. The pictures speak for themselves , this was not safe, not edible, and not remotely professional. I will never order from here again and strongly warn others to stay away unless you want your food served with a side of ash, dirt, and...
