Izumi Sushi — Restaurant in Potomac

I ordered Yu Shan Chicken, as well as Beef with Spring onions… BOTH dishes were completely wrong. The beef with spring onions didn’t have a SINGLE green onion. ZERO. The Yu Shan Chicken dish did not have any mushrooms or bamboo shoots… additionally the Yu Shan which indicates “spicy” with a fire icon was possibly one of the sweeeeetest dishes I’ve ever had. To label it as “Spicy,” even for the underdeveloped layman is QUITE a stretch.

I have lived in Great Falls for 20 years and have been to Izumi many many times since it first opened. And let me say this with a heavy heart that… the service here has ALWAYS been abysmal. Every. Single time. The server appears annoyed while taking orders, bringing out waters for the table, and even when we asked to wipe down the dirty booth they’ve sat us in. These behavior was a pattern for YEARS. After years of horrible and rude service at this location, my family and I transitioned to only carry-out.

Now they can’t even get a simple food...

i remembered this restaurant being one of the best in the area a few years ago, but i will not be back after this dinner. the waitress showed up at our table before we had even looked at the menu, and service was slow for the rest of the night despite being mostly empty. the hand rolls we got were delicious, but one had a black chunk of plastic in it. the yakisoba i ordered tasted like unseasoned instant noodles. i can't understate how bland and off putting they were. we ended up exchanging the noodles for two of the same rolls to go because we were hungry and in comparison they tasted pretty good. surely there wouldn't be another piece of plastic in there, right? wrong! a few bites in i found a similar chunk. one of the worst meals i've eaten in...

Stick to the Sushi. Shusi is done fantastically. I was dreadfully dissapointed in a Hibatchi dish, which I expected to be grilled Tapayaki. It was more stewed, and not very tasty. Wine by the glass is below average. Service is okay, nothing great. Nothing bad.

Did I mention, the sushi is good. Sit at the bar. Seating is limited. always a crowd. so most people must like the food more than I do. Rice lacks character and taste. Green salad is below average. Soup tends to be good.

Food taste - 3 stars (5 stars for sushi, 2 stars for everything else); Service - 3 stars. Menu - 3 stars. Beer and wine selection is limited and not the best. What is left? 5 stars for location, and 2 stars for price. Way over-priced for a very...
