I really hate doing this, but unfortunately out of all the times that I’ve been here with my family or alone, I have never been treated this badly. We were celebrating my little sister’s 17th birthday, and we were really excited about it but unfortunately due to the poor service everything went downhill. Our server was Ingrid (which we were told was one of the best servers in the place and with a lot of experience) but since the moment that we sat down, she barely said a word to us, didn’t even offered a glass of water, then we ordered our drinks and it took more than 10 minutes to get them and in our opinion they were easy to grab (it was only 4 Bottles of InkaKola), then she rushed us to get the food order, and didn’t ask if we wanted appetizers first so my friends ordered their food entrees right away since they felt rushed, but I in the other hand said my appetizer and even though I specifically said that it was my appetizer she never went back to ask for my entree order, after the drinks were dropped we didn’t even get a cup of ice with it even though that it’s usually offered (I’m saying this because I’ve been here multiple times) we asked politely but her answers were always in a really rude tone, when she finally gave us our drinks we were already out of the “canchita” that is offered she saw it and didn’t ask if we wanted more, thankfully it didn’t pass too long that we got our food, but again the poor service was showing, she didn’t ask if we wanted any type of sauces or if the food was good or not, and she disappeared for quite a while, the owner was around so we got to him to congratulate him about the food (the food was amazing btw, it has never been that good since I started going there, I’m peruvian and the food made me feel at home, congrats for that!) and ask for some sauces he gave it to us and we didn’t complain about the service yet just because we were really trying to enjoy our time there either way and give the server a chance to make our time there a little memorable in the good way but that didn’t happen, instead she was never around and when we started finishing our dishes we tried to get her attention many times and didn’t happen til 20-25 more minutes of being there with dirty plates in front of us, then when she finally turned to us she gave us really bad looks and was bothered when i asked for a box til the point that she almost threw it at the table along with the check! That was our breaking point, we didn’t ask for the check, we were celebrating a birthday! (and it was pretty obvious! We had a balloon that said happy birthday!) we wanted to order a little dessert to sing happy birthday but we were pretty much threw out the restaurant, and once again she didn’t come back so we ask the owner to start running our cards. After that we were all just so disappointed that we wanted to leave as soon as possible but two of my friends were even more pissed than I was and they ask to talk with the owner just to give a little feedback on the poor service that were given, again we didn’t want to be disrespectful or annoying but we all work in the service industry and this was just really disappointing, the owner tried to justify the bad service by saying that she server was busy, even though it was not and he said that he was not going to tell her anything just because she has worked there for many years, I get it but what I don’t get is how you can dismissed however your customers feel. With all these experienced I doubt that I will go back to dine in. The food will make me comeback for Take Out because it really is tasty but the service and the solutions are just not something that is very welcoming.
Thank you Ingrid for such an...
Read moreWas my first experience today at this Peruvian restaurant. The restaurant has a very nice façade. You can sit outdoors or indoors. It is clean, nothing overly fancy and what really matters is they’re delicious food. I’ve been to several Peruvian restaurants before, but this tops now, my list. PioPio’s food is fresh, flavors explode in your mouth, and the service is just gracious and warm. I even love the music they were playing, which is Latin music, which sounded very fun. Great ambience to hang out with the family or if you want to go with your LO. I ordered a seafood plate, which had fish, garnished with shrimps, calamari, mussels, and clams and a delicious orange sauce. It also had some potatoes that look golden, delicious and served with white rice. I could not have ordered a burger dish. If you go there and you love seafood, this is a dish to have. My friends ordered Lomo Saltado, and the before so tender it for one of my friends, then I’m planning to order that next time I go. My other friend ordered a breaded chicken with rice and potato chips and salad. It looked fabulous! My other friend ordered something that looks like a mashed potato tower with chicken salad in the middle, and an orange sauce on top. It looks small, but it was mightily packed in flavor. The other lady friend ordered a chicken soup that had all the flavor in the world. She raved about it. For dessert, they offer flan, tres leches, chocoflan, lucuma pie, and some other delightful baked goods. Sadly, they did not have Tres leches so we went for the flan, which we shared. The beverages they have are fruit refreshments, and they also have regular sodas, my table ordered a passion, fruit refreshment, which they enjoyed it very much. Parking can be a little crazy, especially at lunchtime. They only have one handiicap spot, but you can also park in front of the restaurant on the other side of the road. It took me five minutes to find a spot, so it wasn’t a big deal. This restaurant is really a gem! The lady that took care of us, her name was Anna, and she’s there Monday through Friday, and she was lovely! If you are interested in having great Peruvian faire, this is the place to go....
Read moreWe ate here yesterday and it was incredible. Last summer, a neighbor recommended this restaurant to us. We are rarely this far in, but happened to go hiking at Great Falls Park and thought we would stop in and give it a try. Everything was amazing. My daughter (12) and I both had the Tacu Tacu Saltado and it was soooooo good. My husband got the 1/2 chicken with Yuca and Plantains and the chicken looked incredible. It was perfectly seasoned and not dry at all. My son (8) was having difficulty choosing. In fact, he was having quite a bit of anxiety as there was nothing he recognized on the menu. We should have better prepared him for the fact that this was going to be a new and different experience as it was not an American menu, but he was having trouble. He started panicking and the server came over and she was amazing. She asked him what he normally liked and I had to reply “ground beef.” She showed him Arroz Tapado, which he normally would have been skeptical about because of the olives and raisins. They couldn’t take them out because they are finely chopped into the mixture, but he was game and went forward with it, albeit reluctantly, but I was proud of my rigid little guy. I was also grateful for such a kind and patient server. She was so good with him. She got down on his level and he instantly calmed down. His food came and he LOVED it. He practically ate the whole thing. It was a great moment for him and for us as a family. He then started asking if he could try a little bit of everyone else’s food, which is unusual for him. The food was great, but so was the service! If I could give them 100...
