Valentine's Day was dinner at Tizleys Euro Pub. First time at Tizleys was great! We picked an early time, which we usually do, to beat the crowds and longer wait times. Although Tizley's is on the smaller side, the dining area had a lot of people at 4 pm, and only a handful of tables were left.
Everything on the menu sounded exciting and yummy; I settled for their Blackened Salmon, which was lying on mashed potatoes, and next to it was the beautiful cucumber salad. Very aesthetically pleasing; everyone knows you eat with your eyes first! The potatoes were great, and I think I could taste a background of garlic, but not fully sure about that. The cucumber salad also had radishes and a wonderful dressing drizzled on top. The blackened Salmon was the highlight; not only did the seasonings stand out and support the wonderful fresh Salmon, but the size was enormous! Totally recommend!
My hubby had Jaeger Schnitzel, breaded pork chop, mushroom gravy, and rotkhol, which is a German red cabbage pickled. I have to recommend his meal as well. This large pork chop had a nice little crunch on the outside, but the pork itself was tender and not a hint of dryness. The rotkhol, if you have never tried this, it's a must, it was fabulous, and I could have eaten just that and been happy!
Our server Rose was wonderful. Attentive but not overbearing. Unfortunately, I have to stand by my four-star rating; there are a lot of people that are missing out on something awesome due to no elevator.
11/6/2021 Knowing we would be in Poulsbo, Washington, today, I started looking for a new place to try for lunch and was excited coming across this EuroPub called Tizleys.
Unfortunately, not everyone will experience Tizley's because they are located upstairs and, to my knowledge, have no elevator, just a long set of stairs to conquer. This was my reason behind four star and not five.
After looking through their very reasonable size menu and picking what we wanted to order, we were met with disappointment when our server said lunch didn't start until noon. Lunch was part of why we chose Tizley's, but we were starving and didn't want to hold out for lunch; I wonder why they don't start at 11 am? So breakfast it was!
I ordered a half order of Biscuits and Gravy, and my hubby had the Germany-Holstein Schnitzel. My Biscuits and Gravy was straightforward, a single biscuit cut in half layered with their house-made gravy! I can't even begin to tell you how scrumptious the biscuit and gravy were; aside from the tasty, delightful ingredients they used in that gravy mix, the biscuit had a nice little crunch to it, and I would be put to shame if I didn't tell you that there was plenty of gravy on it, no skimping there! My husband was also impressed by his Germany-Holstein Schnitzel. The pork cutlet is breaded with breadcrumbs then pan-fried or deep-fried. His meal also came with house-made gravy; two eggs topped that and hashbrowns. I had a little taste of his pork schnitzel, and he was right; it was good!
Tizley's is on the smaller side, cute, a tad dated but comfy, and charming in feel and family-owned. Our server, Bryce H., two thumbs up to you, my friend; you were great!
What I understand is most stuff is house-made and locally sourced. So do I recommend Tizley's? Most definitely for breakfast, and as good as their breakfast was, I doubt lunch would disappoint!
Tizley's Euro pub is located at 18928 Front Street Northeast, Poulsbo, Washington. They are located above Truelux Candles & Gifts and Crimson Cove Smokehouse and located next to Sluy's Bakery. Parking can be grueling. Street parking is offered when you can find it, and there is a fairly large parking lot across the street, behind the businesses near the water; again, that can be a challenge. The worst times of the year to find parking is spring break, summer, and holidays. Today was a little tough, with no street parking to be had and the large parking lot was fairly filled.
PLEASE be kind to ALL...
Read moreThere isn't much I can say about this place that hasn't already been said. We've been spending a lot of time in the area, so we've been looking for good spots to grab either lunch or dinner and this place kept showing up on my radar. We decided to get a late lunch here and we were pretty lucky to find the dining area pretty empty. I'm sure we were in the sweet spot between lunch and dinner rushes.
We ordered the big pretzel with mustard and I was blown away. Best pretzel I've ever had. It tasted like a real pretzel, and it was soft and warm and fluffy. Nothing like ones you find in ballparks or malls or grocery stores. It has changed the way I view pretzels and I'm afraid I'll probably never be able to eat a bad pretzel again.
We also ordered the family platter for two and the portion was over the top huge. We barely made a dent in it between the two of us. I'm not sure if this is a family friendly place, because they kept asking if we were 21 even though we weren't in the bar, but we'd love to bring our son here with us next time to help us eat all of the food. All of the items were so good. From the schnitzel and spatzel to the different sausages and cabbage items. The gravy is magical and sets everything over the top, so be sure to ask for it. I found myself going back over and over again for more even though I was stuffed. We went home with so many leftovers that it took us almost a week to finish them off. I can't complain about the price here because of the value vs. what you get as well as the quality are all on par with each other. I suppose if you went for a reach, you could say you wish the portions were smaller, but that's not what this place is about. It's all about communal eating here, which, I guess it must be family friendly with family platters.
We do plan on coming back and trying some of the other side items, but the platter is just so good, I'm sure it will be our regular thing when we go here and are in the mood to sit and share and relax with great food. Also, our server was really great and super informative and helpful. I think he was also the bartender. Even though the dining room was empty, the bar was pretty busy, so we appreciate him taking his time to come check on us regularly. He even gave us some extra gravy when we were boxing up our food when we made a joke that there wasn't enough. That's a very nice personal touch. The entrance to this place is really cool too, and the decor and ambiance are very nice.
Bring LOTS of friends with you when you come and get ready to leave...
Read moreMy wife and I had the unfortunate experience of dining at Tizley's on 05/27. My wife was waiting in line at the local bakery next door and saw that Tizley's advertised as family friendly, I was across the street at Hot Shot's Coffee getting some drinks. Since we had our 1.5 year old with us, she decided this would be a good location to eat, since they say they are family friendly. After we purchased our items from the bakery we headed up the stairs to Tizley's. Our 1.5 year old had a short nap and was hungry and in a mood, we call that being hangry. We were seated promptly, which was good. We sat down and had our drinks from across the street with us. We also had our bakery items. Our toddler was screaming his head off because he was hungry and tired. In an effort to not make this an unpleasant experience for the rest of the diners, we took one of the pastries out of the box from the bakery and started feeding it to our toddler. He quieted down and was quite happy. Shortly thereafter, our waitress came up and informed us that her "boss" had seen us on the camera and said we were not allowed to eat other food in the restaurant and asked us to stop. My wife and I were taken aback. We were not eating food. We were feeding our child as we waited for our food, since he has no concept of time or waiting. We actually ordered quite a bit of food, more than two people could reasonably eat. We supported other business in the area and happened to bring the products to the restaurant instead of walk all the way back to the car (my wife is pregnant after all). I thought this place was family friendly? If you aren't going to understand where people are at in life, ESPECIALLY with younger children, don't advertise as family friendly. We didn't see any signs that said no outside food or drink. Are we supposed to just let our child scream in hunger? We were very offended by this. We were jus trying to take care of the immediate needs of our child, and it seems that is not acceptable in their eyes. We will not be going...
