Hot Shots Java... A hidden gem among all the hustle and bustle of downtown Poulsbo, WA. Hot Shots Java has a wide variety of snack/pastries, wraps, coffee, and even ice cream! The prices are decently set making item quality, quantity, and affordability spot on. The food/drink items for sale are not anything extravagant but considering the convenience of location it is the best and almost only option. The interior is clean, organized, and calm. There is ample seating space but due to CDC Covid-19 restrictions seating is spaced apart. There are both small tables for smaller groups/couples and a larger more lounge'y area towards the back of the business. Masks are required to enter and are expected to remain on unless enjoying the purchased food/drinks. Patrons have the option of enjoying their purchased goods with both interior and exterior seating. There is little to no existence of parking spots exclusive to this coffee shop. If you are lucky then you might score a (parallel) parking spot on the main street or can park in the back parking lot where most downtown customers/patrons of the area park. Service is friendly and helpful. Clerks are patient and assist patrons with answers to questions with a smile. If you are looking for a coffee shop in Poulsbo there are better options but Hot Shots Java is in the heart of downtown Poulsbo you cannot go wrong.

When you think of what a local coffeehouse should look like, with local artwork and spaces to meet up and socialize (inside and a little overflow on the sidewalk) - you hit the immediate highlights of Hot Shots Java. I ended up with the Biohazard, and while my husband got another drink for himself with the idea we need to switch, I only stopped for air on that drink to take a photo and give him a taste. Was a chunky chocolate-coffee explosion! Non-coffee and ice cream options are also available. We also got a t-shirt of a viking holding a cup of coffee to his mouth- probably the best souvenir shirt I could expect from the area.

Starting the morning off right on a cool, windy, Sunday. There were lots of locals already inside and a few outside. I've been getting coffee here for nearly as long they have been open. I didn't realize it's been 18 years already! Usually in the summer the adults will get coffee and the kids Ice cream. I see this time they have added POG Sherbet also from Cascade Creamery. Thank you for the friendly customer service. They now also have awesome stickers and other gear to show off your visit to the best coffee shop in the area. The mountain scene that was designed by one of their own baristas is going up at my office.

There is a nice park on the water in Poulsbo where I like to hang out. I can sail into the marina, people watch in the park and browse the cool stuff at Longship Marine. At some point during my visit, I like to walk over to the main street and pop into Hot Shots Java for a 20 ounce latte. On a busy day, the staff is efficient and polite. On a slow day, they are fun to talk with while they brew up a tasty coffee. The tables in the front area are almost always occupied, so I head down the ramp in the back to sit in one of the wicker chairs in the little alcove down there. I have to plug my computer into an extension cord and balance the machine on my lap and put my coffee on one of the small tables besides the chairs. Once I am settled in, I have a nice quiet place to write and sip coffee. I’m not sure why, but this area is unpopular, so I often have it all to myself. Before I can start on my coffee, I have to eat the little chocolate covered coffee bean that is served with every drink. I have mixed feelings about this treat. The flavor is delicious - chocolate and coffee go perfectly together. At first, the texture is nice - soft chocolate with a crunch of coffee bean in the middle. Things go downhill after that - bits of coffee bean stay in my mouth and lodge uncomfortably in the spaces between my teeth. It takes me an hour or so to drink my coffee and finish up the writing task I have set for myself. There is good WiFi, so if I finish work early, I can surf the internet easily. When my coffee is done, I pack up, toss my garbage and head out. If I have done good work, I reward myself by going across the street and getting in line at Sluy’s for a sweet pastry treat. Otherwise, I walk along the shoreline to come up with better ideas...

"Hot Shots Java is a hidden gem in the heart of historic downtown Poulsbo! As a family-owned coffeehouse, they've truly captured the essence of community and quality. Their commitment to using organic, fair trade coffee that's custom roasted locally sets them apart from the big chains.

I am impressed by their dedication to supporting our military and local vendors and giving back to the community through initiatives like supporting the local food bank and schools. The fact that they've been voted Best Coffee and Baristas in North Kitsap for over 8 years speaks volumes about their consistency and excellence.

The cozy atmosphere and friendly staff make it the perfect spot to relax or catch up with friends. Their attention to using high-quality ingredients in their drinks is evident in every sip. Whether you're a local or just passing through Poulsbo, Hot Shots Java is a must-visit for any coffee enthusiast. It's no wonder they've become a community favorite since opening in 2003!" -...
